Moving Houses

The price isn't right for how tiny this game is, wait for a very steep sale before buying. The concepts are interesting but explored in a cliché way, and very very surface level.

It seems too many people expect one of these "horror indies", and Moving Houses is not that. But it does have a good sense of unease and slight surrealistic twist that's a bit Lynchian. Plus that damn catchy song! I'm still humming it!

Short and sweet experience with a really interesting concept behind it. Pretty short overall, but my main gripe would be that toward the end the core mechanic ends up getting left completely unused. That said, the actual story twist at the ending was super entertaining and well done. Good way to spend an evening if you can pick it up for cheap

This game is nothing special. But what makes me upset is that it really could have been. Instead its been watered down with lazy, overly expository writing with no palpable sense of tension and cheap jumpscares for streamers to pog-face at. And the gameplay isn't really satisfying. The packing felt tedious instead of relaxing, the scares were weak and predictable, the ending section with the breaker box felt like the most cliched thing you could possibly do as well as completely unneeded, and anything that was built up was entirely shattered in favor of pointless theory-bait. There are the bones of something amazing here. A cozy packing puzzle game with lingering feelings of regret and those feelings of the big change in front of you haunting your every move sounds amazing. And the mechanic where you invent new rooms to clean and new tasks to do because you're trying to delay the inevitable for just long enough to savor the safety of your home is a perfect idea for psychological horror. But this game is not that and refuses to do anything with this ideas is sells itself with. It plays every trick far too safely as if it didn't have the guts to do anything more than what has been do…

I really liked the game but I am so sad that it's such a small game! I NEED more! I really enjoyed the gameplay and the story that went with it.

This game really moved me.
