tl;dr review: it is an FMV game, which most people hate. base price is outrageously expensive for a basic ♥♥♥♥♥ port. but 100% recommend due to game preservation and making it publicly available. If you want to buy, wait on sale. Was $10 this past summer sale. $18 bundled with the other Taito LD game Ninja Hayate. -----------------tl;dr stuff------------------ edit: I read this game was not released outside Japan, but I swear to God I did find one at an NA mall arcade. I remember Time Gal getting a release on Sega CD, but completely forgot Time Gal was originally an arcade game. Playing it again recently jogged memories from my youth that I absolutely did see and play it once and only once. It also knocked loose memories of Time Gal being such a miserable, humiliating, BS experience for 50 cents, that I had no urge to never play it ever again. I think this explains why I only saw it once and forgot all about it. Love it. I'm a laserdisc game nut, so I might be slightly biased here. Having Japanese examples of the genre is brilliant. Plays really well (I'd strongly recommend cranking the difficulty and playing on 5 if you want to recreate the arcade frustration). But if you just want to marvel at the top-notch animation, there's no shame in playing with the onscreen prompts. Here's hoping the likes of Super Don Quixote and Cliffhanger might appear one day.

Great game preserved in HD which is great, 100% recommend. I also fixed the screen tearing on my end, just put it to 1920 by 1080 window, full screen has no v-sync from my experience.

This is exactly what I wanted out of a game like this. Stunning animation, silly fail animations, and QTEs out the ass. I had never expected to enjoy it as much as I did, but it's also a short stay. You can beat this game in a half hour if you're paying attention. If you're curious about an FMV QTE game from 1985, wait on a sale.
