✦ AI summary

Glass Heart: Retold is a visual novel where you guide Meira, a hospitalized girl with a fragile heart facing life-or-death surgery, through six romantic routes that explore what it means to truly live. With fully voiced characters, branching storylines that impact your survival, multiple perspective shifts, and over 60 illustrations, your choices determine whether you fight for life or surrender to a beautiful dream.

Glass Heart: Retold is a fresh take on the original game, Glass Heart.

Fall in love all over again in this revised version featuring: additional characters and illustrations, updated and longer routes, updated UI, and more!

What would you do if your story were coming to an end? Would you choose to live, or would you close your eyes and escape into a beautiful dream?

Meira, the Glass-Hearted Girl, is faced with almost certain demise. She only has a twenty percent chance to survive her upcoming surgery…. Without it, she’s doomed to die.

As she looks out her hospital window, she thinks about her life. It’s an existence confined to hospital rooms that sustain her but also imprison her… an existence filled with vital sign checks, rounds of endless medications, and the constant irregular beeping of her heart monitor.

The world beyond her hospital window is one she’s always yearned for. It’s so vast and filled with many unknowns. It’s a life of mystery that she wants to uncover. It’s a mystery that she’s only ever dreamed of while watching everyone else walk away from Wellston Memorial.

Join the glass-hearted girl as she learns what it means to truly live… and as she searches for the strength to survive.

Glass Heart: Retold is an emotional otome visual novel that players praise for its compelling romantic routes, engaging characters, and ability to deliver both heartwarming and genuinely angst-filled moments that resonate with fans of the genre. Common complaints center on the hospital setting's medical details feeling unrealistic and the overall soap opera-like nature of the plot, though most players view these as minor issues rather than dealbreakers.

“Sometimes in life, you can find yourself trapped in the darkness. It can become so hard to see past the pain and the trauma, but there’s always a light. Whether that be a person you meet tomorrow or a creative outlet that allows you to bring joy to yourself and others. Never stop searching for those lights. Always remember that even though things may be dark right now, your horizon is just a step away.” -a line from Glass Heart: Retold Note: You can read the full, un-cut review, on the Otome Lovers website Meira Lovingston is the girl with the Glass Heart and has spent her whole life in the hospital.. When she turned 18, she transferred from the pediatric hospital to the one she currently resides in. At the start of the story, Meira is now 21. As the game begins, Meira is told by her doctor, Jay, that she has begun to go into acute heart failure. If she does not begin to improve, she has “four to six months until the damage becomes irreversible.” Luckily, it seems that a donor heart has recently become available. Although, she won’t be able to get the surgery for one month…

as a disabled person, the real fantasy isn't all these hot and respectful men pining after one girl, it's having a competent doctor.

It's hard for me to give a review without comparing this to the original version but I will try my best. Glass Heart Retold tells the story of a young woman called Meira who thanks to a condition caused her to have a very weak heart at a young age. She has spent the majority of her life living in a hospital with barely any freedom to even leave her room. She has been told that she now has a Heart Donor, which is a good thing because really she needs it. The problem? She has to wait till the end of the month before she can do the procedure and it only has a 20% survival rate. Meira now stuck in a situation that seems too bleak will need to find a way to keep her spirits up until her surgery. Luckily she has 5 ways her life can turn around with the help of another person. Glass Heart Retold is the same in terms of the overall plot of the original game but Retold does a good job in polishing the game and making the plot less tropey and fleshes out each route and the characters. Meira's character shines a lot more in Retold. She is less naive (though still sheltered as much as a person who spent most of her life in a hospital room is) and we can see her in a balance between being ver…

i am a HUGE fan of angst romance! I havnt played the original game, i started with retold and i gotta tell ya i loved every minute of this game. Eli is forever my bias, i mean just the fact that you get to hear your song together is amazing, what sealed the deal though is his bad ending im sorry but it was angst at its finest. I will say i saved Tamaki towards the end since his appearance is linked to a lot of my cinnamon roll favorites and was completely blindsided by what happened. All routes are fantastic and some seemed more cannon then others but hey the heart wants what it wants.

It's a nice game. Definitely soap opera style with a lot of crazy stuff throughout. But, a lot of fun. One of the best English language otome style games, I have played. I also played the original. This is an excellent update to the original.
