Griffin 「グリフォン」

Works well on steam deck, no issues. Griffin is usually ~$100 for a loose game gear cartridge, so this is an excellent deal for a great game. This is one of the best ROM-in-a-box setups I've seen; simple UI, savestates+cheats, and the art scans are great. Built on Ares with proper license docs, which is nice. No ROM in the game folder, but being technically inclined, I can confirm they are using a known-good dump, so it's a solid release. I appreciate Edia/Ratalaika releasing this--this is a DEEP cut in the japan-exclusive game-gear library, and this release is very well done; this is the first time I've actually wanted to use the built-in emu. The game itself is great. You have 3 weapons available at all times, switchable from the pause menu. Basic shot, over-the-wall-grenade-from-gain-ground-thing, and a rocket that explodes in a large area after traveling a long distance (and only fires forward). Finding the right weapon is fun, and combined with being a tank, the game feels unique compared to the hundreds of other shmups from that era. First level music is a bit weak, but the rest of the tracks are solid.
