Anomaly-based horror games may have seen better days, but every now and then, a new title stirs the formula with just enough flair to stand out. Set entirely in a long, unsettling hospital corridor, the game’s minimalist design feels effective—sleeping nurse at a desk, cartoons on the wall, and classic creepy elements like a lonely wheelchair and scattered posters. It’s a slight letdown that all signs and posters are in an Asian language, but thankfully, this doesn’t interfere with gameplay. The main objective is to escape the loop by detecting or avoiding anomalies across eight looping corridors. However, unlike other games where you can backtrack, this one forces you to keep moving forward. If you make a mistake, the lights dim. Too many mistakes, and the darkness consumes you—killing your run and sending you back to the start. You detect anomalies using a phone found next to a corpse—which, plot twist, turns out to be a version of yourself from a failed escape. The phone lets you snap photos to receive feedback—sometimes a cryptic message if you capture something important, or a generic blurb if it's just something ordinary like a wall. Exit is a creepy Chinese puzzle game where you hunt anomalies through a strange phone to escape a nightmare loop. The eerie atmosphere and cryptic story questioning your purpose and the phone’s trustworthiness are intriguing. However, the gameplay is frustratingly unclear, with no clear instructions on how to play or identify anomalies, making it confusing and hard to progress. Repetitive loops add to the frustration. It’s a short, unsettling experience for horror puzzle fans, but the lack of guidance makes it tough to enjoy fully.

This game is merely okay. For $2, it's fine and I could say I got my money's worth out of it. The game does not provide clear instruction and some of the English translated text is confusing, but it's simple enough to figure out what exactly the game expects you to do once you go a few rounds along the repeating hallway. Simply put, Exit is an Exit 8 and PT knock-off anomaly finder, and not a particularly great one. That said, the anomalies are pretty easy to capture and the game keeps track of them for you on a nifty cork board. Outside of the solo developer Unity jank, my biggest problem with this game is that it does not include an inverse Y-axis option for those who have that preference, which forced me to futz with the Steam level controller settings to get this game even remotely playable for me. I should not be expected to do that unless I'm on the Steam Deck.

I played EXIT, and I really loved the atmosphere—the creepy hospital and sound design are super intense, it genuinely scares you! It’s intriguing to dig into what happened there. But man, the bugs ruin everything—the game’s so poorly made, it’s hard to play because of all the glitches. I wouldn’t recommend it right now, but if the devs polished it up, it’d be awesome, ‘cause the story is really captivating and I want to know more.

Beat the game with 2/5 achievements. An absolutely super fun realistic anomaly game where you witness various mind blowing anomolies in a hospital. Hanging dead bodies, creepy civilians and teletubbies. The head bobbing was fantastic, graphics super nice. GG
