Shooting feels very bad, game loop is so boring. Always search through a labyrinth of tunnels to push a button, then find the way back and do the same over and over again. And on your way, kill some zombies. Not fun, avoid it.

Title: I Want My $2 Back – Zombiefield is a Disaster I don’t expect much for $2, but Zombiefield managed to deliver even less. This game is the equivalent of microwaving a wet sock and calling it dinner. It's a co-op, fast-paced, chaotic zombie shooter — emphasis on chaotic, as in, no one knows what the hell is going on, ever. The shooting feels like throwing paperclips at a brick wall, the zombies have the AI of stale bread, and the graphics look like they were rendered in a fever dream powered by a toaster. The UI? Think 2005 Flash game but somehow worse. And the soundtrack? Repetitive enough to make your ears commit war crimes. Co-op mode is technically there, in the sense that you and your friend can suffer together, which I guess is the real horror experience. Laggy, buggy, and more broken than my hope for this game — Zombiefield is what happens when a game jam entry escapes containment. Even at $2, I feel robbed. I'd have had a better time lighting that money on fire and roasting a single marshmallow. Avoid at all costs unless you're doing a deep dive into how not to make a video game. 0.5/10 — and that 0.5 is only because the uninstall button worked.

Zombiefield is a small first person zombie game that has a pretty interesting idea behind it. I am sent into a dangerous area with a simple contract, and my job is to activate portals, restore power and survive long enough to evacuate before a missile strike wipes out the whole place. The part I like most is that I am not just clearing a map of zombies. The more objectives I complete, the higher the threat level becomes, which means I am basically making the situation worse on purpose because I need to finish the contract and get paid. The manager system is probably the most unusual thing about it. One player takes the role of the manager and only has one life, while up to three other players can work as employees and respawn during the mission. That gives the manager a proper reason to stay protected instead of treating death like a minor inconvenience. I like this because it creates a simple objective outside of just shooting zombies. If I am the manager, I have to be much more careful, and if I am an employee, keeping the manager alive becomes part of my job. It gives the cooperation a bit more structure than I normally get in a basic zombie shooter. The weapons are fairly str…
