You are the SushiCup Master and pass down the traditional techniques to your apprentice.Inspect the SushiCups your apprentice has made and guide him to become a good SushiCup craftsman.
- Memorise the Kanji characters assigned to your apprentice.
- Check the Kanji carved on your student's SushiCup.
- If all the Kanji engraved on the SushiCup are the Kanji of the theme, it is "Good". Have a cup of tea and take a break.
- If there is a Kanji on the SushiCup that is not on the theme, it is "Bad". Let's give your apprentice some strict instructions.
- Check the number of SushiCups and if there is no mistake, you will be promoted to the next stage. Challenge the next level.
- Promote your apprentice to the next level and train him or her to become a fully-fledged SushiCup craftsman.
- That's when your real battle begins.

In this game, you are a sushi cup master. You are an artisan devoted to the craft of engraving sushi-related kanji onto the walls of cups people use for drinking green tea. But you need to train an apprentice to take over after you're gone. So this game is doing quality assurance over their work. And you need to check everything quickly. The tone of this game is respectful but also comedy, especially the second half of the game. I really enjoyed that aspect. It's very, very repetitive in terms of gameplay, but I think that fits with the theme of craftsmanship and toil. It reminded me somewhat of the minigames in an old PSP game I loved called Work Time Fun / バイトヘル2000 in that the game isn't "fun" and is very repetitive with little reward but it's also gently humorous and somehow it's enjoyable and satisfying to me. I personally can't claim to understand very much kanji. But I decided to play this game anyway, as the developer generously gifted a key to a steam group I curate for. Does it really matter that I couldn't read the kanji? I'm not sure! Maybe it became helpful in the second half of the game!
