About Driving Life

Driving Life

Welcome to Driving Life, a hardcore driving and survival experience set in the heart of rural America. Stranded on a remote island with barely any money, you’ll have to scrape by, taking on driving jobs, managing expenses, and surviving on whatever cheap food and drinks you can afford. With a realistic driving model, manual transmissions, and a variety of vehicles to operate, Driving Life is a true test of skill and endurance. From small personal cars to minivans and even heavy-duty trucks, every vehicle demands mastery as you navigate the island’s winding roads, dirt trails, and ferry routes.

Features:

🚗 Realistic Driving Mechanics – Manual transmission, clutch control, and varied vehicle handling.
🚐 Diverse Vehicles – Drive everything from compact cars to massive trucks.
💰 Hardcore Economy – Earn just enough to survive… if you play it smart.
🏨 Island Life – Stay in a rundown motel, pay rent weekly, and work odd jobs.
🛠 Resource Management – Keep your car fueled, your stomach full, and your debts paid.
🚢 Ferry Routes – Transport tourists and goods between terminals to earn cash.
🥫 Survival on a Budget – Eat cheap meals, drink what you can afford, and don’t blow your last dollar on a flashy car.Your adventure begins in a modest motel, where the owner might call you for work—driving a van to pick up tourists from the ferry. You’ll start with a clunky manual car, but if you manage your money wisely, you might just afford an upgrade. Be warned: every decision matters. Miss a rent payment? Run out of gas? Go broke? You’re in trouble.Think you have what it takes to survive behind the wheel?

an interesting and refreshing concept for a driving game, completely undone by an incompetent dev that cannot figure out controls. Steering wheel, gamepad or kb/m. The game won't remember what you set, resets pedal calibration. If using gamepad, it refuses to remember what preset I choose and does whatever it wants, the throttle button activates the headlights each time its pressed, if you shift into 3rd, you can only go from 3rd-4th, not back to 2nd without pausing and readjusting controls. It really is a fascinating game gatekept by the inability to properly program controls. Even the default manual transmission mode, where you hold RB and shift with the right stick on gamepad, is super fun! If ithe headlights weren't turning on and off each time I press the throttle, or the game would remember I chose the default, and not make RB shift randomly. It's just odd, it's like driving a car with an electrical shortage.. More pain than MSC/MWC with absolutely no rewarding attributes(because i can't play the game long enough to find them.) Would love to change this review around, i keep checkiing every update to see if it's playable and keep getting disappointed.

I wouldn't say it's at a 1.0 state yet but it's not a bad game I for one really thought it was enjoyable, to address some complaints I read before buying; it's a driving game for everyone complaining that they don't have a mini map well why don't you just do what the game is intended for and drive use the road signs it's not hard, also I didn't have any crashes and as of now I think I played only a few hours but it's been smooth, as far as the controls getting reset after you turn it off and then back on hasn't happened to me so IDK maybe I'm just lucky or something... If you're interested in the game give it a shot.

I enjoyed the navigation, by using street signs, the map and business signs. Its really got the bones of something that could be special, but ditch the AI voices, they're so bad, just have text and a mumble sound. (Something like how Obensuer does it would be far superior) I honestly thought this was early access so I'm not sure how much of this will change, but the biggest one that I felt it was missing were a ton of small details that push immersion. It'd be cool if any item the player uses is an actual physical item that we have to keep track of. Lots of items to purchase and use. I wanna get lost in your world, but the first impression from driving around it feels pretty thread bare. I immediately tried to find a gas station to buy cigarettes and beer. I grew up in a rural American town right around the time frame in this game and was disappointed to seemingly be unable to live out my nostalgia lol. The driving feels pretty rough as well. Is there a clutch? I could've just missed how I use it, but coasting felt like I was applying the brakes. Even on controller driving feels a bit jerky and awkward. Also I was unable to use the E brake without stopping the vehicle dead in it…

Its like the developer of this game has only read about how cars drive. The steering goes from 0% to 100% turn in about 0.2 mm of stick movement on my Xbox controller. There's no sensitivity settings for the controller at all, only keyboard and mouse. The engine sound just kinda does whatever it wants. Nah, go play MotorTown instead.

I am giving this a thumbs up only because this is one of those games that when I first started playing it, it made me feel good. The graphics were great quality, the game ran good, the npc's talked and their mouths moved correctly with the words, and most importantly the flow of the game and the driving itself is top notch. What hurts this game is that occasional "fatal error" that seems to happen randomly when you open a car door and talk on the phone. Also, if you keymap a steering wheel be prepared to research how to keep those settings saved. I about refunded the game due to that, but finally found a work around. If the devs put a little more time into this game, it would be a big hit. Too bad this game is going to slide into the shadows and be forgotten, when it could have been so much bigger. I would have paid top dollar ($50+)for this game if that bit of time would have been put towards fixes and adding a few things. As it is now, it is worth the price, but no more.

Such poor quality games should not be available in the Steam store for purchase. 1/10.
