The Watching Woods: The Louse is an indie horror game that tackles serious topics like child abuse and pedophilia, and it would deserve praise for that — if it didn’t have one small problem: the game sucks. It’s been a long time since I’ve played something this boring, tedious, and completely devoid of any tension. I won’t even get into the mid-90s graphics or the bugs. I’m not refunding it only because it’s good that games like this try to address such themes… but I still can’t recommend it. Not even if you get it for free.3 found this helpful
This game was honestly pretty good. The Watching Woods: The Louse is a story about a poor boy that is neglected by his mother, and spends his time hanging out with his friends at school to get away from his home life. This has very heavy topics in it such as mental health, sexual abuse, and child abuse. I enjoyed the gameplay, the graphics were decent. It was a tad buggy in some of the cutscenes and I feel it could have used a little more polish when it came to things such as that. I enjoyed the game, with its suspenseful moments regarding the huge centipede creature. I found myself quite uncomfortable at the constant mention/sound of bugs skittering, even in places where you wouldn't expect them. My only dislike of the game was its ending. It felt like this boy only experienced bad things, and there wasn't really a resolution to the game. While I agree with and support the "Speak out" message; I don't feel like the end reached any conclusion that made any sense to the story. He never told anyone that I am aware of. Did the ending actually mean he finally told someone about his circumstances? I do wish it'd been wrapped up a little better. Overall, this was more creative, uni…3 found this helpful
LOVED THE GAME'S ATMOSPHERE. only issue is that i'm assuming it might be a bug but theres was a glitch where when the monster is chasing you and it would lowkey just keep the chasing sfx keep on going even tho his not chasing you anymore which kinda annoying but still liked the game either way overall2 found this helpful
I beat the game with 3/4 achievements. Its a cool horror game where you walk around a school and cabins observing students with tv faces and escaping monsters. Fun and relaxing game
Very well produced game, it was quite disturbing and has some sensitive topics, although it was well told. Very shocking and true that this happens in today's society, shocking. I hope people are made aware of all these games that talk about the hardships of life. Thanks for making this game and i hope the message gets spread.
