Sapiens

I genuinely wanted this game to succeed and bought the early access but unfortunately the developer clearly abandoned this game and last community update was not really affirming. If you want to play %30 finished colony sim game be my guest but I would not recommend anything from this developer.

It had some interesting idea but went the way of the dodo. Developer lost interest after taking money and not completing it. Another early access, early failure.

Hey, so I never make a review without extensively playing a game first. But this is more of a "response" to the review bomb of this game than anything. When I get to the point where I've played the game a lot, I will write a proper review for it. I was a player from the original Blockheads who found out about this game from Dave's announcement regarding Sapiens being put on temporary hold in order to focus on The Blockheads 2. I saw that it has recent reviews which are Mostly Negative. "Huh, I wonder why that is?" I look and see that it's a review bomb from people who feel like they were ripped off due to the lack of updates. Which is fair. I [i]guess[/i]. Even though there's a note on the early access banner saying "Games in Early Access are not complete and may or may not change further. If you are not excited to play this game in its current state, then you should wait to see if the game progresses further in development." But whatever, I digress. Look, unless Dave like, dies in an unfortunate car crash or something, Sapiens will eventually reach 1.0. This is the same person who's porting a 14 year old mobile game for modern platforms because of the community surrounding it. …

I will say this. For the price you pay it is already worth buying. The Dev taking a break, expected after 11 years of solo developing. I am sure this is not the last update we will get, he still looks after his previous project. If you want a relaxing (and frustrating at the same time) game leading your Sapiens, go ahead, buy it and dive in. I am still not regretting my purchase.

Promising new game from a trusted single developer I have followed in excess of a decade. Although he has paused development on Sapiens, he has done so to recode a previous finished title from 2013 that is breaking from OS changes. Based on these, I have confidence that he will return to Sapiens as well in time, but adjust expectations accordingly.
