About CiniCross

CiniCross is a dark fantasy roguelite built around nonogram puzzles (also known as Griddlers).Descend into a cursed dungeon where every puzzle solved brings you closer to powerful enemies, and greater rewards.

Increasing difficulty

The deeper you go into the dungeon, the more complex the puzzles become.Solve procedurally generated nonograms of various grid sizes from 5x5 to 20x20. Risk grows with depth, but so do the rewards.

Face powerful bosses in procedurally generated dungeons

Each floor offers multiple paths, all leading to a deadly boss.Every boss has a unique power that forces you to adapt your strategy and rethink how you approach nonograms. Along the way, discover shops, campfires, and other locations to aid your journey.

Use the power of artifacts and items

Collect powerful artifacts and items that change how you play. Automatically fill columns, increase rewards, slow down time, and more.Combine their effects to create devastating synergies during your run.

Perish and retry

Every mistake, every wasted second comes at a cost.Death is inevitable, but each run is a new opportunity. Start over, gather new treasures, refine your strategy, and manage your time carefully to go further than before.

An interesting take on nonogram puzzles that took a short while for me to gel with - button controls felt a bit stiff at first, and I was prone to making mistakes due to misinputs, but once I got used to it, this has grown to become one of my favourite puzzle games overall. The roguelike elements do mean sometimes a run is just a bust, when a run clicks, it REALLY clicks, especially when you get lucky enough with items for a puzzle to just solve itself, or hit the 0.00x time multiplier, both extremely satsfying things to happen. Only real issue I have is that on larger puzzles, clues can be a bit difficult to read on a screen like the Deck's, but that's absolutely a "me" issue, rather than an issue with the game itself.

Started playing this game while it was still in development. Watching it grow from a simple idea into a fully fledged roguelike has been amazing. If you, like me, enjoy Picross/Nonograms and roguelikes/lites, I cannot recommend this game enough. It's a perfect combination of them which is absolutely worth playing. Different classes give you the freedom to experiment with what playstyle suits you best, and after quite a bit of refinement I think the current item/relic system is very satisfying. At $12, I think this game is priced fairly.

I'd consider myself pretty well versed in nonograms but doing them fast is not my strong suit at all, and that's the whole game so if you like half thinking and doing hard puzzles fast this is your thing. One big complaint I have is that the game incentivizes you to play really fast but it's very easy to lose out on items when you sacrifice them, you can put something into the slot and click skip to essentially trash it with extra steps, same with clicking by so fast if you do get a reward that you can skip it without thinking. Also there's SO much on the screen when you win it becomes very easily overwhelming.

Hydrobates has laced these nanograms with pure Grade A Booger Sugar and I'm utterly addicted. If things keep going the way they are I'll need an intervention and forced rehab.

Gotta hand it to 'em, this is the first time I've ever seen a cross between nonograms and a roguelite, and it turns out that combo actually works. Go figure. It's progressively harder maps of nonogram puzzles interspersed with nodes to buy things or recover HP and such. Think Slay the Spire in terms of how you move between puzzles and shops. Eventually you have a boss fight which involves solving a few puzzles back to back. Run difficulty 1 has 3 bosses; as you increase your run difficulty, you'll have to make it through more maps and defeat more bosses to win your run. As you play you'll also unlock different classes that each start with a different legendary artifact, so there's some variance in playstyle and builds. The short version: if you don't like nonograms you won't like this game. If you do like nonograms, as long as you're OK with the Fun and Exciting Roguelite Experience™ where sometimes the RNG gods decide they hate your run in particular, you'll probably enjoy it. You do need to figure out what build you're aiming for early on and commit to it if you want to get past the bigger puzzle grids (unless you're a freakishly good nonogram solver, in which case more power t…

This game is awesome, a fantastic spin on your standard nonogram game where each puzzle is a literal fight for your life. I love this, i played the demo for a long damn time and as soon as I was able I snagged it. 10/10 for nonogram lovers who don't mind a timer.
