Kona II: Brume

Play the first Kona, then this one. A very fun and chill adventure. The only thing I'd really change is the mine section. A bit too much of an annoying backtracking experience there for me.

TLDR; Love the game, hope there is a conclusion coming (kona 3 or a novels series, I'm in) The bad : - There were some section of the game that were a bit tedious later on. - The animal lover achievement is still bugged, the devs were made aware in 2023. - There is one place where uou need to use a specific tool and it didn't seem to work at first. Had to check online. [spoiler] the geiker counter in the grotto reset the distance every path, makin it seems like it's not working [/spoiler] The really good, because nothing is just good - Music ! - Ambience + snom effects - you can pet the dawg - Great story telling, Guy Nadon is the perfect person for the narration in french - So many memorabilias ! (I feel old and it's not even my generation) - Love the dog sled, it's well implemented - I actually could deduct and arrive at conclusion before the game tells me I'm right. (Made me feel smooort)

Oof. It'd be fine, I think, if there wasn't the first game to contrast it to. Brume is streamlined. Visible stamina bar. Less involved inventory management. Combat right off the rip. Still just a cold walking sim, but the survival elements are also scaled back and the survival elements were what made the first game feel like anything. Heck, the narrator's now an american. Why. The vibes of the original came from its strong sense of place, and that sense is massively attenuated here. On a deep sale, I think this is okay. But it's okay at best. If you liked what made Kona I special, you probably want to be over at The Long Dark instead. Edit: Holy backtracking batman. Huge chunks of this game are just nothing. Poke around a big empty room. Nope, wrong room, go choose a random other room to poke around in, there's a 1-in-20 chance it'll make this room meaningful. And when stuff is happening, it's Temu Resident Evil. Spencer McBadguy was using the rock that emits mist, the Mistanite (that's what we're calling it?? for real??), to do evil pharmacy sciences and now you have radiation poisoning which causes you to see visions which is why El Hornyman from the first game isn't real, h…

Great game, Managed to get the Sledge dogs out of bounds and use them to run outside the map to the end of the game. GG sledge dogs OP.

Story well written, beautiful scenery

I definitely recomend playing Kona II immediately after finishing the first game, as the story continues directly from where Kona ended. Brume is a much better game, the story is immersive, there is much to explore.. And this time, you even meet some living people :) I enjoyed the gameplay and never felt bored or frustrated. Definetly worth playing, both of them. first Kona, then Brume.
