✦ AI summary

Players consistently praise this free game for its surprising quality, compelling narrative about historical conflict, and creative storytelling that relies on text rather than graphics or voice acting to create emotional impact. The localization is noted as excellent, and players particularly appreciate the well-developed female characters and non-linear detective gameplay that kept them engaged longer than expected. Common criticisms include occasional logical inconsistencies where the "correct" choice isn't clear, some dissatisfaction with certain story endings, and a need for copyediting i

What a brilliant deduction game this is! I genuinely cannot believe that it's free, given the lovely graphics, elaborate game interface (cf. a purely text-based game) and expected playtime.
If you at all enjoy deductive mysteries, where you've got to do all the hard work, this is the game for you!
I can't quite remember how I stumbled across it, potentially, because it was quite similar in idea to the OG game that became the Incident at Galley House, but I am certainly grateful to have discovered it. In a non-linear narrative one has to piece together the clues to resolve the mystery
with a juicy extended extra couple of storylines that will allow one to completely finish the game, rather than the broad resolution that is reachable even without this
. I played on normal mode, but didn't find the little numbers to indicate how many knock-on scenes a scene hinted at particularly helpful, nor did I ever use the hints, and whilst the minds eye perhaps could've been a cute mechanic, I didn't even really realise what it was supposed to do until I'd pretty much already resolved the main mystery. It was the exact right level of difficulty that everything w…

I got this game recommend to me, and since it was free, I decided, "why not?". I'm so glad I played this. It's an intriguing murder mystery type game, with a exploration style similar to "Return of the Obra Dinn". I'll be honest, I'm not great with puzzles. But I got to the ending on my own, so not impossibly difficult, but for someone like me still challenging. One negative is the ending, which I won't spoil, but is a bit disappointing. However, for a game I never heard about, that I got for free: this was an excellent game, and a real recommendation to others. I look forward to playing the sequel.

Find out what happened on a faithful night in 1941 on a plantation in Borneo. Another Type Help like, this time focusing on Borneo, an island colonized by the british and the dutch. Much like others in its genre of database deduction. Your job is to connect clues to find out the who-where-whens. The games strength is that it gives a lot of perspective of what it was like in borneo and the history about the colonies and the war. The music is great and most characters are believable. One of the weaknesses of the game is that there seems to be more guessing in this one. They said they would go there at 6, so you check it at 6 but no ones there. Ah guess they arrived there first at 7. Another issue i noticed was that the game suddenly stopped moving forward and hinted i had figured everything out. apparently i was supposed to click on the eyeball in the top right, which i didn't use for most of the game before hand. This caused me to try out every option at every location until i realized something wasn't right. This could have easily been fixed by forcing the player to go to the minds eye when it was unlocked. My last issue isn't that bad but i felt the two journeys where dragg…

A seriously great game! I played this after playing The Incident at Galley House, which helped me get the hang of it pretty quickly. If you're not afraid to read some text, as most of the action is text-based, this is a great murder mystery game. The story is really interesting and intricate, I wont say much more than that since I don't want to spoil anything, but it was a great mix of historical "realness" and pulp. Enough pulp to make it punchy, but I learned a lot about Borneo and its culture. The mechanics work well. I will say that I felt like I grasped the item attunement mechanic only when I finished the game. Once an item is attuned to the character it belongs to, you can use it to read only the dialogue or action pertaining to that character in a scene they are present into. It is useful when you don't have all the characters so you can't unlock the full scene yet or to help you figure out who to pair with a character in the scene. Visually, the UI is very barebones in terms of visual, but it's not necessarily a bad thing. The drawings are beautfiul and it has a very unique aesthetic. I can't believe this game is free. Thank you for this incredible experie…
