It's a basic, extremely badly made brawler... that's only a demo for what was presumably going to be a larger asset flip down the track. First point, I guess, it's NEVER okay when developers try to scam people into getting YOUR money for someone else's Unreal assets. That's what happened here. Secondly this was never a complete game, just an advert, yet there was still a price tag on it! Also not okay. So, "RONIN: Two Souls CHAPTER 1" is partially or completely made up of stock assets, "borrowed" from asset stores and free asset websites. RONIN: Two Souls CHAPTER 1 is a small action RPG that lets me step into the role of Kenji, a young man living alone on the island of Toshi who wants to become a samurai. What I like about it straight away is that it does not try to make me follow one completely fixed path. I can talk to people, explore the island and make choices that can change how I deal with different characters. The game is clearly trying to build a bigger story around Kenji, and even though this first chapter is limited, there is a decent amount of freedom in how I approach it. The choice system is probably the most interesting part for me. I can decide how I treat people and even make friends with characters who could have been enemies. That gives some conversations more importance because I am not simply picking dialogue to reach the next quest. I am also thinking about what kind of relationship I want with the people around me. The idea of those relationships carrying into future chapters is interesting too, although the fact that this is only the first chapter means I do not get to see the full potential of that system yet.
