Shape your own story.

As a nameless warrior—a ronin—your destiny evolves based on the choices you make. You will encounter historical figures and factions with various ideologies, such as the anti-shogunate faction leader Ryoma Sakamoto and the shogunate-affiliated organization Shinsengumi led by Isami Kondo, allowing you to experience the tumultuous Bakumatsu period. You will face significant decisions, such as whether to assassinate or protect key figures like Naosuke Ii, and craft your own history through a multi-ending system.

Customize your weapons and combat styles.

You can choose from various melee weapons like katana, spear, and odachi, each with multiple combat styles. By freely combining these based on enemies' weapons and your own combat style, you can enjoy a wide range of tactics. There are also ranged weapons like guns and bows, which you must use strategically according to the situation.

Explore beautiful cities in an open world.

In the mixed cultural landscape of Edo, Yokohama, and Kyoto during the Bakumatsu period, you can explore stunning scenery with seasonal changes like cherry blossoms and autumn leaves. You can use a grappling rope to climb onto rooftops and the glider Avicula to glide through the air. Additionally, you can capture your favorite views using Photo Mode.

Customize your character.

From their facial features, hair, and makeup to their body shape and voice, the protagonist—your Veiled Edge—is yours to create. As you progress through the story, you’ll acquire new clothing and gear to customize their appearance further.

So far I'm enjoying it. I may update this review when I finish. My greatest criticism lies with the open world; it's a very boring affair. Open the map, many circles, pick circle, set waypoint, follow waypoint in compass. Collect roots and nuts and rocks. Kill some baddies. You get the picture here. You've played this game many times over, sometimes even better. If you can abide that, then the rest of the game has many high points: the setting is interesting, placing your character during the time period of the opening of Japan to the West. Combat is fun with many different weapons to choose from. You'll equip two main melee weapons and two subweapons which are generally long range with some exceptions. Traversal is also quite fun as in the cities you can travel most of the path up on the roofs. It can be a little frustrating determining what exactly your character will climb on sometimes, but you get a feel for it pretty quick. You also get a grappling hook, which can allow travel at certain predetermined points on the map or can be used in combat to throw enemies around. On the neutral side, it is a Team Ninja game so expect a lot of useless equipment to drop all the time. It …

Having played most of Team Ninja's games I thought I knew what I would get, turns out I was wrong. I got the Tenchu sequel I never even knew existed. It brought me right back to my childhood. The combat is the strongest it has been to date, the parry mechanics and skills in themselves feel so good. Challenging multiple opponents to fight is exciting. The story is great , the music is top notch and there is only one thing I can say is to not listen to the old reviews complaining about the performance , I had no hickups or frame drops so far. Will update as I progress further

Really Solid Game 9/10

Note: If people think I've played only 7 hours of this game, they are mistaken. For some reason the game only displays hours spent online and I hate playing online. Because then the game reacts totally differently. Weird one hit kills, random enemies spawn from nowhere and weird wanted signal just to report some weird online mechanics and that is the reason I don't play online. An epic game to have in ones collection. The only problem with games like these is that the protagonist is always lonely, unable to date, go to jakuzi or have sex. I never get the idea that all protagonist have eriction problem or they are just dumb like the developers who are lonely in their lives as well. But whatever the case may be this problem will always exists. The Ghost of Tsushima protagonist cried in the game to give him a women, but nope the developers outrightly denied him that. Why? Because the developers are lonely themselves and they want everyone else to be lonely. That is the only problem I've with these game. Otherwise I loved it more that NIOH.

In my opinion, this is the BEST game from Team Ninja, and yes, even after Nioh 3. Such a great story, characters, and combat system. Sooo underrated...
