About Ad Fundum

The Great War is over, and the Age of Diesel has come. While many believe this is an era of harmony and prosperity, you know that peace is more fragile than ever. You embark on a journey into the depths of Earth to find the means to avert future conflict. But what awaits you in the darkness below? Is it a boon or doom for humanity?

Take control of a colossal mech, capable of drilling through hundreds of meters of rock in a matter of seconds. Collect valuable resources, then fly back to your base to sell minerals for immense profit. Keep a close eye on your control panel: in a dangerous environment, your mech may overheat or overcool, and, most importantly, it doesn’t run on air – it needs fuel to operate. And beware of falling stones - your machine's hull won't withstand too much damage.

Rebuild your base

Your base has seen better days, but with enough amount of money you will restore it to its former glory and beyond to enhance your mining performance and unlock special abilities.

Upgrade your gear

Upgrade every part of your mech individually to transform an outdated prototype into a technological marvel. Experiment with different builds to create the ultimate mining machine best suited for your playstyle.

Find hidden secrets

Discover artifacts to unravel the history of the first human civilization on Earth, or search for the remnants of the previous underground expedition to unlock special upgrades with unique effects for your mech.

Explore 8 diverse locations

The deeper you go, the more locations you will discover. Each has its own visual style, atmosphere, gameplay mechanics, and threats to deal with.

Survive earthquakes

The ground you dig does not stand still – it shifts, changing its terrain. An earthquake is a dangerous time to collect resources, but when it’s raining minerals, how can you resist not grabbing some ore?

Other features

  • Procedurally generated map: each run will be unique!
  • Original soundtrack: every location in the game has its own music and atmosphere.
  • Several difficulty levels: whether you seek a challenge, want to relax, or aim for a balanced experience, you'll find a suitable difficulty. Or you can customize the difficulty to your own liking!
  • Different story endings: can you unlock them all?

--- Yup, "Ad Fundum" indeed is a reimaginationed "clone" / spiritual successor of the "Motherlode (Goldium Edition)" of Xgen Studios in a Dieselpunk-setting alongside own (but very inspiration heavy) story. Sure, there is still some jank when it comes to controls which takes some time to get used ( I personally completed this game with an old non-rainbow colored "Logitech Dual Action" gamepad ). But in overall there there was no need to "fight" the controls like with many games featuring far too much obstructive "overanimation" (*cough*GamesByRockstarGames*cough*). Majority of the things mentioned in the "Not Recommendations" either already have been fixed ( E.G. there are indeed Steam-achiements nowadays ). Or they simply didn't play far enough to gain many of the upgrades this game features ( both before and in the [spoilers]New Game+[/Spoilers] ). The amount of the rule / run settings allows quite a lot of replayability, down to the original hardcore (one life) Motherlode-settings (E.G. running out fuel -> game over). Needs at least one more polishing update ( E.G. typo fixes and end-game item-names not being the description of the items ). But otherwise a very solid "Mother…

all of the choices in upgrades, and items to buy. I've still got a lot more mined items to unlock and it's been a long time since a game has had me this hooked. definitely worth the purchase

Usually I try to wait until I finish a game before leaving a review but I'm pretty frustrated to the point where I'm just going to leave my negative opinion now instead of later. If my opinion changes by the time I finish I'll update but I highly doubt it since my criticisms are about the gameplay. I don't know if these are known bugs or whatever but sometimes my mech will just freeze. The game itself won't freeze and I can still open the menu but I can't move in any direction - doesn't matter if I try to use m+k or controller. The only thing I can do is close the game out and reopen it, losing whatever progress I had before my mech froze. This even happened when I was on the surface, so it's not like I was colliding with things and getting stuck, I just' couldn't walk around anymore. Another bug I keep encountering is the feature on the radar showing danger zones just randomly turning off. The key/button to toggle it on or off won't work and this particular bug actually persist through a game restart; the only way to fix it is to run back to the garage and unequip then re-equip the accessory. It is such a PITA when you are trying to accomplish something and you need to run back…

Not a very good game. Too many instant death traps and hazards, that are there simply for the sake of annoying the player. Progress is painfully slow, the controls are bad and you'll mine into areas that you actually didn't want to, because the controls are so sensitive. Literally every other mining game I've played is better. Go for Miner Dig Deep, Mining Mechs, IMA Miner, Canary In A Crater or Steam world Dig.

Really exceptional game. For the price, I think I got far more value out of this than any I've ever played.
