Mining Mechs

I've played all of these guys games now, and perhaps unsurprisingly, their first game is the worst one. Which is good, it shows that they've learned as they developed more. First off, the digging, it's extremely slow, Even when you max out your drill, even the soil at the top is pretty slow. What I often do on these games is dig out every single bit of dirt I can and bask in the results. I will not do that with this one, oh my god. When you get further down, if you haven't upgraded your mech enough. You'll know. It'll let you dig, there's no way to abort digging, if you're really far down because you used bombs to get there, then started mining because you found an ore you want, you can be waiting for over a minute to dig through the thing... That's annoying. Very annoying. Once fully upgraded, it still doesn't feel fast, it just feels sluggish and boring. The humour in this game is annoying. I've spilled my milk and I dropped a drumstick. There, you've read every bit of humour in this game, it gets repeated a few times. A small and very short game, but definitely amusing enough for something to play in between other games. It's cheap and simple, and it really reminds me of the old Flash game era. I honestly can't say much bad about this little indie game except maybe the humor... let's just say it's "special".

The general idea is nice, but there are enough quirks to make me give it a thumbs down. A few examples: - There's not enough difference between mechs, so skipping one or two makes more sense. - Drill power at max for the last mech still feels super slow; I'd argue that the difference between no upgrades and max upgrades is barely noticeable. - The max inventory cap for bombs is quite dumb. Five bombs is too few when dealing with big rocks that need two explosions—you break two rocks and have to go all the way back to buy more. - Explosions destroying loot is another pain point, especially if you forget the blast radius of big bombs or dynamite. I'm still playing to get all the achievements, but it feels like an unpleasant chore. :(
