About Carol and the Bells: A Cozy Strategy Game

Carol and the Bells: A Cozy Strategy Game is a turn-based strategy roguelike Minesweeper-style game set on a snowy night. The game is played on a small grid-based board, where every tile is drawn from the deck you build. Before each level, you choose and construct a deck that determines what may appear on the board — rewards, tools, and unexpected events. As you explore, you must use hints to infer where enemies might be hiding, decide which tiles to reveal, how much risk to take, and whether it’s time to ring the bell and leave safely.Resources gained during exploration can be spent to acquire new board elements and upgrades, allowing you to shape a strategy that fits your playstyle. There is no single correct path. Play cautiously or take bold risks — and enjoy this quiet Christmas adventure.Inspirations: Mr. Magpie’s Harmless Card Game

Thought it was going to be more like Mine Sweeper. Disappointed. It might be considered similar to Minesweeper without clues, but I can't imagine anyone wanting to play that. I spent the bulk of my time making totally random guesses, that's no fun. All in all, not very fun. Three thumbs down.

This is an absolutely delightful strategy game! The art and story are cute, the gameplay can get rather challenging and I've been enjoying trying again and again, learning the patterns to help Carol through her adventure! If you are someone who enjoys Minesweeper you will most likely enjoy this too! There's plenty of levels to do in the main story to keep you for a while, as well as extra challenges to unlock more powerups or items to maybe shake things up a bit! Maybe you're like me and enjoy Christmas themed things outside of the season, or, also like me, your on Windows 11 and looking for a good offline game to fill that that Minesweeper void, and from time to time have it have a have a bit of a twist. This is a good pick! I recommend it! A tip if you want to make the game if just a TOUCH more like Minesweeper: [spoiler] Please keep a look out for the powerup "Just Air", it will clear the blocks that are empty around the empty block you just clicked as it would in Minesweeper.
