About First-Person Data Explorer

First-Person Data Explorer is a sandbox-style environment where datasets come to life - translated into physical features like color, size, motion and more. The goal is to let you experience your data in fun and creative ways.Players can choose from different graphing types (called "Explorers"), each of which visualizes the data dynamically in real time. Data is loaded from Jsonl and CSV files, which players can create, modify, or select during gameplay. Each Explorer has a few simple guidelines for the data it reads, and players are encouraged to write scripts or choose datasets that fit those formats - with examples provided to help you get started. The game is packaged with python and includes Pandas and NumPy, but you can also load scripts and datasets from any directory of your choice.

At the time of writing this review, 8/20/26, this is not yet a game in the traditional sense. Rather it is a tool for visualizing tabular data. Tools similar to this are available in various statistical and machine learning packages but I'm not sure any offer the first-person viewpoint that is available with FPDE. Clearly the data visualization tools on offer could be expanded but, in addition, I suspect that data exploration could be gamified. I look forward to seeing how the author takes this forward. It is fun to play with the free version. Whether or not one would pay for this software depends greatly on how you feel about data exploration.

Great waste[use] of time. The game is fun to mess with although hard to learn and it could use a better tutorial. I can see that quite a bit of effort went into making it and the coding nostalgia reminds me of early video games. The sounds are especially funny :)

Why is this on steam ? Please tell. I do not understand the motive of the author. Please keep in softwares sections not in games. I tried to peek in and check this game. But, not a game. A data visualization software. Removing from my library. Already got too many things to end before I end.
