I love this game on a conceptual level, and I want to like it, I really do. But something that the tags do not describe is that this game has what I like to call "tightly timed puzzles" -- you need to complete the puzzle within a tight timeframe, or otherwise you're back to the start. In this game, it is manifested by
creatures that will shut down your lights
, and while there is a pattern, there are so many of them in the rooms that it is of no much help. The abundance of them means that you are basically fighting against the clock regardless, much like in games such as Low Oxygen. In the words of the great Gamechamp3000, "I suck at video games". And I hate when they make puzzles into timed things like this, even moreso because you may reach a point where they're unavoidable. I think I have reached one such point. I would also put the fact that you jump with the "up" button as a negative, because that makes your movements feel all the more cramped, but seeing how
the entire point is that your jump improves when you turn on lights
, it may be an intentional mechanic. I don't particularly agree with the philosophy of cramping the entire control …

This is a puzzle game whereby you need to light up all the specific blocks in a room (or rooms linked together) for... reasons. It has mechanics akin to a metroidvania in the sense that you'll acquire new traversal abilities allowing you to backtrack to best puzzles and explore in areas you previously couldn't. Treat this review as a warning. I attempted and gave up solving this thing no less than 3 times over several years. While you can't die, I certainly found ways to softlock myself or, in the very least, found myself completely at a loss as to what the game wanted me to do to overcome certain rooms. Hidden throughout the map are power nodes that allow you to light up all the required blocks in a room if you spend 5 of them. There may have been about 20-25 of these in total and believe me, if I hadn't used them at least twice when I did, I would never have solved the progress-blocking rooms I used them in. There are no teleport-to-room abilities, even at endgame, and you can and will circle the map several times over if you aim for 100% Achievement completion. Due to this as well as the fact it isn't always clear where you are meant to go to make progress based on the abilit…
