About Tesla Breaks the World!

You take on the role of Nikola Tesla: world's greatest inventor. No big burden right? When a snooping Thomas Edison accidentally damages your most recent invention, Tesla accidentally opens a quantum space tear. Oh dear. Now, you must set out across country, city and laboratory to confront your nemesis and fix this broken world! Blending classic 2D platforming with puzzle solving, unlockable inventions, 1800's era-Undead and randomly generating level design... and Tesla is in for a bit of challenge...
  • Inventions + Science. Find new ways to beat puzzles as you progress. Magnifying transmitters, electric-powered hover platform thingies, remote controls, Tesla Coils and even... the deadly and legendary Peace-Ray!
  • Pigeons. Yes, there are unlockable Pigeons to aid you on your adventure. Yes, you can name them.
  • Efficiency. The less efficiently you are able to solve puzzles, the more likely zombies will spawn around you. Use your inventions wisely or expect things to get even more complicated...
  • Randomization! RNG Or 'random number generation'. Get some re-playability from this platformer with levels randomly generating sectors, puzzles and environments as you play.
  • Easy-Breezy or Nail-Biting Hard! Take advantage of unlocking levels & mid-level checkpoints or kick it up a challenge with Hard Mode, featuring: increased enemy spawn rates, no checkpoints and perma-death. Do you have it in you? Do you?
  • Foot-Tapping Music. Some light-hearted and cheery European style tunes will help put your genius mind at ease. There you go!
  • Homage. Giving the nod to science and art with tribute to the legendary minds of Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison (okay business mind), Eyvind Earle and more...

"Tesla Breaks the World!" is yet another of literally thousands of 2D retro platformers infesting Steam and lowering the average quality of all video games everywhere. It's an older game from 2015. It's a venerable 10 years old at the time of this review, but there is 4K support and a rudimentary, if unsatisfying set of configuration options. So, on the upside, the game does feature customisable controls and resolution, so at least some of the basic, minimum requirements have been met. Unfortunately there's a number of other technical defects and shortcomings which contribute to the game being difficult to recommend to gamers. For starters, before getting too deep into the technicals, this is yet another case of an amateur developer grave robbing Nikolai Tesla in a brazen act of intellectual and creative bankruptcy. At least they left Lovecraft alone this time... but I suspect if Lovecraft and Tesla didn't exist, indie devs would go bankrupt overnight. More bankrupt. Because they wouldn't have any ideas for video games. The controls and game handling are notably very floaty and imprecise, the real killer here. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gam…

Tesla Breaks the World!, developed and published by Archetype Global, is an eccentric indie platformer that attempts to blend steampunk invention, light puzzle-solving, and absurd humor into a single 2D experience. It stars Nikola Tesla, the brilliant yet perpetually unlucky inventor, who—through an experiment gone wrong—accidentally unleashes a catastrophic wave of chaos across the world. The resulting rift tears open the boundaries between science and the supernatural, flooding the environment with zombies, bizarre machines, and distorted landscapes. From this premise, the game builds an adventure that feels both comedic and chaotic, inviting players to navigate strange mechanical puzzles and swarms of enemies in an attempt to restore order. The concept is inherently intriguing, promising a mix of brainy problem-solving and fast-paced action, but the execution reveals both flashes of creativity and deep structural flaws. At its core, Tesla Breaks the World! is a side-scrolling platformer that combines environmental puzzles with light combat and exploration. The player must use Tesla’s various inventions—hovering devices, portable coils, and energy-based gadgets—to traverse the e…

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of y…
