"1X1" is a small, simple bullet hell-esque game where you open a door, experience a bullet hell related minigame (dodge a lot of stuff, etc), defeat the encounter, then open another door. Or, you know, uninstall. What do you do in the game? Bullet hell minigames. It feels like a relic from the late 1990's/early 2000's Adobe Flash era of a gaming. But this has been published on Steam alongside contemporary, cutting edge PC games. I didn't build a gaming rig just to use it to play glorified browser/Flash games, and neither did every other dedicated PC enthusiast out there. Steam isn't here to compete with Chrome and Firefox. The game is really simple and unambitious in terms of implementation, more of a tech demo or one of those cases where an amateur developer spends $100 to publish something on Steam Direct to see if it’s possible. Yes, obviously it’s possible. A proof of concept, tech demo, or something that’s less than a little blip on the radar isn’t offering anything truly valuable to gamers. On the topic of visuals, the weak looking 2D retro assets seem like they'd be more at home in a browser game or a mobile app. 3D graphics accelerators hit the mainstream of PC …
