About 4X4

4X4 is a game that survives for 3 minutes in a square divided into 16 places.
Each stage has a theme and the characteristics of background music and obstacles vary depending on the theme.

Characteristics

  • Simple rules make it easy for anyone to start.
  • Because of the simple and big objects and the exact space,
Players can feel the speed by quickly identifying and dealing with risks.
  • Obstacles are fast, destructive, and slow to approach with rhythm.
Sometimes the player can take advantage of the obstacles.
  • Mixed the characteristics of bullet hell, rhythm, and puzzle well.
  • There's beautiful background music for the theme.
  • Challenge for the best record in endless mode!
  • This game is not easy :)

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate the core bullet hell concept and find it enjoyable and affordable, but criticize inconsistent difficulty spikes, unfair pattern design that often requires memorization or practice mode routing to progress, and misaligned level design with the background music. The game delivers on its premise as a fun arcade-style shooter for those willing to invest time learning patterns, though some feel the execution falls short of making those patterns fair or intuitive.

I appreciate the concept, but the execution is kind of lacking. Many of the gimmicks presented in levels just kind of come out of left field and are inconsistent in difficulty (particularly level 5), many patterns are just impossible to get through without some kind of memorization, and while each level does have a background track as accompaniment, these tracks sound pretty stock and the levels aren't actually synced to them (kind of like 64.0). About the memorization: since many patterns aren't randomized, you can just go into practice mode and route them out via trial and error. Many patterns are plainly unfair and unsightreadable, making this pretty much required in some of the later levels. Even for patterns that don't require routing or are randomized, many of them have some kind of gimmick to them that can be confusing the first few times you attempt it. Some patterns, after memorizing, become essentially free, whereas others (particularly randomized patterns) don't, leading to a wildly inconsistent difficulty curve in some levels, which just ends up feeling unfun in the end. Overall, while I like many of the concepts presented in this game, I think that the game's design …

fun little bullet hell game, but it can get a little annoying with the random attack patterns of certain parts of the stages.

By 6 minutes of playing, enough to say. This game is YES. BGM 4/5, GAME 4/5, GAME PRICE Super CHEAP. Just for some people, this game might be too difficult... but that is all.
