50 Cents Please

Short simple puzzle game, took me about 15 minutes

I needed 50 cents... i ignored the fat stack of Benjamins and then walked around with a hammer for 10 minutes. 0/10 would recommend

50 Cents Please is a tiny first person puzzle adventure that I found more atmospheric than I expected. I am stranded in an empty subway where almost everyone seems to have disappeared, and all I have is a tiny amount of money and the need to find a way home. I liked the lonely setup because an ordinary subway station suddenly feels very strange when there is nobody else around. The gameplay is built around exploring the map and solving simple puzzles to collect coins. I move through shops, rooms and subway areas while searching for clues and useful objects. I enjoyed the straightforward structure because it lets me focus on figuring out what the environment is trying to tell me rather than dealing with complicated mechanics. The exploration is probably the strongest part for me. The abandoned station creates a feeling that something is wrong even when nothing particularly frightening is happening. I liked checking different rooms and looking for things that might help me progress. The possibility of multiple endings also gives the adventure a little more reason to explore carefully. The concept of exploring an abandoned subway and solving puzzles is interesting, but 50 Cents Please feels very barebones in execution. The game has a good atmosphere and some interesting locations to explore, but the puzzles and overall gameplay don't offer enough depth to make the experience particularly memorable. It feels more like a small experimental project than a fully developed adventure game.

This was a fun little game! I think I needed a hint once, but other than that I enjoyed it.
