A Piano Tale is a narrative game with elements of music skills. The game tells the story of a fictional musician, Alexandra Aaronovitch, in several stages of her life. Alexandra is an elderly woman with Alzheimer's disease, and discovers that her father Boris Aaronovitch, who was a composer during the Stalinist era in the USSR, composed a secret, subversive concerto at a time and place when artists were not allowed to create what they wanted. The concerto was dedicated to his daughter Alexandra, and the search for this secret motivates most of the narrative. Depending on the player's success in the Point&Click passages and in the musical skill parts, there will be three possible endings, which will show whether Alexandra has managed to retrieve her memories despite her illness, and whether she forgives her father for the difficult and strict childhood he put her through.

I’m leaving a positive recommendation for this game because I want to support its developers. The music and the story concept are very interesting. The game currently offers a short prologue, which, in my opinion, is enough in its current state. Let me explain: The pauses between different dialogue scenes are sometimes too long. Between some dialogue lines, the text skips by too quickly, which causes you to miss parts of the story. The fancy font chosen for a game with a lot of reading becomes tiring on the eyes over time. For the perfect timing on the piano sections, it feels like you need to sync about half a second after the piano sound, so trying to follow the melody can cause missed notes. So I likely would not have kept playing much longer if the game were longer. However, I do hope to come back later and see what the game has to offer as development progresses.8 found this helpful
