After the Collapse

This game, sadly, doesn't hit the mark. If you like zombies and don't like how Rimworld constantly ramps up it's pressure until the game is unplayable, this game might sound appealing at first glance. The issue is the most basic concepts that it DOESN'T take from Rimworld. There is very little flexibility in how you optimize your workload and how you map out your projects. The UI interface is awful, favouring vague iconography over just telling you what the function is. Zones cannot deviate from a 4 sided shape. Prioritization cannot be equal, one thing must have a greater or lesser priority over another. Mapping what each villager can and cannot do is tedious, but necessary. Individual crafting tasks cannot be prioritised over another, only the overarching job it applies to can. There is no 'storage zone', everything must be stored within a construct, so get used to building a ton of these that fill up instantly. The dev, for some inexplicable reason, has decided to put googly cartoon eyes on all his mutated monster enemies. Incredibly frustrating, regrettable experience. The UI is a nightmare that makes the whole gameplay abysmal and annoying, with no enjoyment in sight. The worst aspect of this game is the combat and watching it play out - you'll start a newgame, assign everyone to build stuff in the previously-thought "cleared out" building AND OUT OF NOWHERE, SPIDERS WILL ATTACK AND BLOODY KILL EVERYONE. You think "Ah crap! Well, atleast I can micro them properly like in Rimworld, right??" But nah, the management of soldiers is a pain of unforeseen proportions and insanely frustrating, not to mention slow. Have fun properly managing them without plucking your damn hair out and demanding a refund. But oh! It's too late! You can't do that now! WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY. The UI, controls, AI and just the general feel of it with AI-controls ruin absolutely everything. Don't ever waste your money on this.

A fun variation of the Rimworld/Dwarf Fortress paradigm, albeit a bit more crude, but with it's own unique atmosphere and charm.

Certainly a hidden gem if you like base builders like Rimworld and Dwarf Fortress. There are a few minor issues, but nothing that should scare anyone off. My biggest complaint is the lack of any real community of fans around the game, as even the Steam forums are pretty quiet and YouTube has only a few videos from the last three years. Too bad, as the game deserves more attention.

After the collapse takes gameplay style notes from games like "Rimworld" and "Prison Architect". You build a colony in the ruins of a nuclear war-ravaged civilization. It's different enough from Rimworld in tone and in gameplay that it stands apart. It's worth investing some time in this different flavor of colony sim - it's a good one.

Great story quest to follow then option to play different factions gives good replay options. Challenging but fun base building game, i like the structure of the world map with different options for travel, battle, and faction interactions
