This game was recommended to me by someone on my Steam friends list and I’m glad that I gave it a chance. Archamon is a city builder which feels like its stuck in the late 90s/early 2000s, for better or worse. It’s also kind of like a budget version of Banished, but a bit more fun. If either of those two things sound bad to you, you might be easily scared away from this game. If you’re willing to give it a shot, though, you might enjoy Archamon. The first thing to address is the graphics. This game looks old and there’s no getting around that. I find it to be kind of charming in a nostalgic sort of way. Larger towns and cities begin to look like controlled chaos straight out of a forgotten city builder or simulation game like Chris Sawyer’s Locomotion. There are also seasons that change the landscape; fall especially looks oddly pretty. The only part that I find truly garish is the winter setting, which is somewhat blinding. I’m not sure how the winter colors could be fixed, but I do think they need work. Archamon really shines in its town building gameplay. There are several different modes, including a builder mode. This mode is surprisingly relaxing; you can let your townspeop…

I've enjoyed the game thus far, and find it challenging at my current level of game play. I especially have appreciated how the game developer is open to suggestions and has added features to the game that my fiance and I asked be included. There are some features to the game that other city building and city defense games I have previously tried do not have, including the idea of succession and surveying for ore to mine. I see potential in this title and look forward to seeing it evolve further.

Archamon, developed and published by Vionsoft, is an ambitious attempt to blend city-building, survival mechanics, and light real-time strategy into a single medieval-themed sandbox. It sets out to simulate not just the construction of a settlement, but the evolution of a living society—one that must gather resources, survive environmental challenges, and gradually develop social structure and hierarchy. The concept is compelling and offers a strong sense of scale, but the execution reveals a game that struggles to fully support its own ideas. The foundation of the experience revolves around building and sustaining a settlement in a procedurally generated world. Players begin with a small group of settlers and must manage essential needs such as food, shelter, and resource production. Over time, this expands into more complex systems involving infrastructure, defense, and population growth. The survival aspect is particularly prominent, as changing seasons and limited resources force players to think carefully about long-term planning. This gives the early stages of the game a sense of tension and purpose, as every decision directly affects the survival of the settlement. One of …

At first it was a little difficult to get the hang of the gameplay but after a bit of trial and error it really opens up and really becomes fun and you could get lost in hours of game time
