Ugh I'm so frustrated! Ballistic Zen was one of the nicest surprises I've encountered recently. I had never heard of the game or have any idea what it was about, but it was bundled recently and I decided to give it a go. I ended up giving away all other games in the bundle and just kept this one. And boy, what a delight! Ballistic Zen is a first-person platformer / parkour game. It controls basically just with the mouse - left-click to start or stop, right-click to jump. You accelerate by riding downhill or by quickly shifting between left and right. And ... that's pretty much it, a whole game built upon first-person movement, which I'm a sucker for. The goal is to ride "lines", which are courses snaking through the massive, brutalist, vertical open-world. It's literally so simple yet so, so enjoyable. The part that I hated the most is the realization that I suck at it. The first world kind of warms you up to the game. It took me a while, but eventually I was able to beat all the lines there. Loved the game here are a few notes. Key remapping should be added. It would be nice to add the checkpoint button to my scroll wheel button (mouse3) and swap left and right click as I feel having jump on left click would feel better then having it on right. Collecting. Ballistic zen's main gameplay loop is exploring areas for collectibles and doing lines. However it's hard to know how many collectibles you have left and where they are located. I think it would be a good idea if on the tab screen there was a separate screen that shows the collectibles for the area and which ones were collected. This could be a counter like... Financial District blue triangles - 10/59 yellow triangles - 1/3 Or it could be a visual showing each collectible as an image grayed out and coloring in when you collect each triangle. Achievements. Steam achievements would be nice to have. If they were to be added some I would suggest. -Collect all common triangles -Collect all rare triangles -Collect all yellow triangles -1 achievement for every area completed with all lines -an achievement for completing every line -talk to all npcs -beat the game (enter the car) -100…2 found this helpful
