Bass Blocks is a top down shooter with randomly generated open world made by Paul Cooney in 2015.
PROS
+ Randomly Generated world The map/world is always randomly generated and never the same! + Nice graphics and relaxing soundtrack Graphics make the game look really good, soundtrack is relaxing and never annoying.
CONS
- 15 minutes of gameplay Bass Blocks after 15 minutes of gameplay is just boring and always the same. - Monotonous gameplay Is always the same you keep going in 1 direction, you kill your enemies, bosses, level up and all over again. - Price Bass blocks is overpriced for an 15 minutes game, in my opinion it should be max 2,99€12 found this helpful
So, this game is weird, and I don't know if I should recommend it yet or not... I've figured out some aspects of how it works and where it's going on, but I hope not all of them yet. The statues you come across are save points, if you die, you respawn at them... There's a decay that spawns at where you start and works outward to slowly consume everything, if a save point is gobbled up, you won't spawn there anymore, so you constantly have to try and find a safe point further away from the decay. You level by killing creatures and finding colored blocks and also finding statues... Everytime you level, you will be brough to the level room, where you can put the levels on a pedestal (I think), as you level, your shot becomes stronger, but the game also start to move faster, at some point it's recommended to turn the game speed to 'half' because it'll be going crazy fast otherwise. When you reach certain points and defeat certain bosses, you will get an extra safe point that you can travel to, meaning, you have progress in the game even in death.10 found this helpful
A very unique and abstract RPG shooter with a great sense of adventure and discovery.
It's a good game at it is but it also has amazing potential, I feel as if this game was released in early access it would have been received really well. And judging from the developers comments it seems that it will have many updates in the future to fix some underlying problems and possibly add things. The art is amazing as well as the atmosphere. I love how you have to discover the game for yourself unlike some other people who can't seem to understand some of the concepts, Altough I agree there should be an optional tutorial for some people that can't grasp the content. I do wish there was a better representation of the perks that you were getting. I don't like the perk you get around stage 2-3 where you can suddenly move like a supersonic jet, in thery it's helpful but almost impossible to control. Though this was easily helped by going into assists and turning the game speed to half. It felt much more responsive and fun when I played in that mode. There are a number of balencing changes that need to be done to make this a better game and a fairer game at that. The difficulty ramps…8 found this helpful
A game that at first may seem very strange and weird, but really is what it says on the storepage. If you have a atentionspan longer than 10 minutes the game will be pretty straightforwars, nothing out of the ordanairy when it comes to game mechanics and rules. If you like fairly simplistic combat that is pretty challanging and enjoy getting more and more powerful, this game have that. The music is alright for what is is, it's interaction based and semi generated, but it's not amazing. Your firerate is locked to the music and your attacks are shockwaves of bass. The aesthetic is pretty cool and I personally think it looks alright, the problem with it that I think it makes the game harder because all the stuff going on at the screen at once makes it hard to dodge atacks and holes in the ground. I will play more, it's probably a game that will be played shorter bursts, rather than for hours and hours.7 found this helpful
Exactly what it says on the tin, title, same thing. Doesnt give any detail as you WHY you are doing anything nor does it tell you how to progress *RougueVeryLight You start from where you leave off at certain points of progression *You shoot little blocks at moving colored blocks while avoiding falling to your death So far 3 bosses *Has sounds, no music so far though Do you like shooting pixels from a overhead view while running through a maze that isnt even finished building yet? Get this game if you do.4 found this helpful
