Bewildered is a single player combat-adventure game, in which you play as the chosen guardian of your tribe’s sacred island. Due to an experiment gone wrong, a portal connected to a ghastly world opened up, pouring corruption over the entire island. Now, the slumbering guardian beast has awakened anew to defend its birthplace from getting consumed, but perhaps this time, cooperation is required. Both guardians, beast and human, must work together in an attempt to push back the corruption and close the cataclysmic portal. Will destruction and magic be enough?

Beautiful character and environment design. Everything else is extremely boring, incomplete, broken and definitely uninspired. Unfortunately, I lost all the hype after seeing the main menu and the short intro and left very disappointed.

Bewildered is free and has potential... I am giving it a good review since I would recommend if you want something short and free to play; however, there are opportunities for improvement. The animal companion is the main reason I decided to play this game, but it mostly gets stuck and doesn't follow commands very well which was disappointing. There was no real story introduction when you meet. It's just kind of there. Also, the directions on how to play or what to do in the game are not great. The visuals are pretty good, main character is good, the idea of an animal companion is always a plus in my book. It's a good idea for a game that needs more work. I really wanted to like it more!

Gotta admit, it was quite rough around the edges. I think the game is quite beautiful and I like the idea of having to cast non-violent spells to earn magical 'bullets' to fire back at enemies. However, the clunkiness weighs down the experience heavily, and the only enemies are just slightly different versions of blobs. The companion animal was also basically a non-factor, not sure how it was programmed but never felt like it was doing anything meaningful in combat. Nevertheless, it's a worthy submission by a student group, and I do think the general idea they were going for is clear.

"Bewildered" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from Breda in the Netherlands. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. The students made a simple console-like third person action adventure game where you work with a "Guardian beast"... this does a good effort of coming across as if it's a real game, the visual presentation is cartoony but tolerable... of course, beauty is sometimes only skin deep, and as a student project, this is shallow, clunky, unpolished, and repetitive... like all student projects…

Bewildered Positives: + Ok idea + Nice graphics + Good music + Beautiful mini-world + Its free + Its short Negatives: - Awful AI - Below par spawning enemies in small arenas - The worst and most tendious combat system ever (and its on top of that broken most of the time) - Game breaking bugs and errors - You get stuck and glitch here and there - The monster is behaving like a total ♥♥♥♥♥♥ (not helping at all in combat, gets stuck everywhere, stands in your way, walks slowly like a drug addict, doing the opposite when getting commands etc) - Monotonus and repetitive gameplay - No fun - Hearing "no energy" for the 100th time is really annoying - A lot of frustration because of the above - A total waste of time It looked so promising in the beginning, with the beautiful graphics, design and music. So where did this go wrong? It all went downhill when the bugs, enemies and monster arrived. If all the errors where fixed, and the combat system was scrapped, maybe the game could have been saved. Or making it into a non violent game instead with just quests, exploration and parkour. It would certainly be better than this cr*p. So just avoid it, its not worth playing. Total Score: 2.…

The game is definitely something a bit different. The art style is easy on the eyes and the music is done really well. As for the combat side of the game, the mobs were very bland and repetitive and blocking/shooting side of the combat felt a bit janky. The fact you could run out of a basic attack felt very backward. That being said the game definitely has the potential to be something greater. Its free so youll lose nothing by trying it out.
