About Birdigo - bird word game

Build words, play cards, and take flight!

Features:

  • A deckbuilding word game inspired by Wordle, Scrabble and Balatro
  • Strategize, build your deck and build up your high score
  • Guide your adorable flock on a round-the-world migration
  • Roguelike elements – how far will your flock go?
Birdigo is an adorable mashup of Wordle and Balatro created by screenwriter John August (Corpse Bride, Charlie’s Angels) and developer Corey Martin (Bonfire Peaks, Pipe Push Paradise). Piece together words from your deck of letters and guide a flock of birds in their migration around the world!

Assemble letter cards into words, which add up into ‘flaps’ to send you further along your journey. Longer words score higher, but specific combos can turn short words into powerhouses. Use enchanted feathers, letters and songs to change the rules of the game as you go.Build up your deck and develop your own strategy in each game. You’ll need to play carefully, as the distance gets further with each round. Stack up a massive high score and guide your flock to safety!

If your friends won’t play Scrabble with you ‘cause you’re constantly beating them with enormous vocabulary this game is perfect for you. Oh, and it has cute birdies)

I've got 9.1 hours in Birdigo so far and can easily recommend it. It's a chill, but challenging word game with a deck building twist. The easiest way I can describe it is Scrabble, Wingspan and Wordle had a cozy little bird themed baby. The deck building is what really sets it apart. I've played plenty of word games over the years, but adding deck building gives it another layer of strategy without taking away from what makes word games fun in the first place. The presentation is simple, the audio fits the cozy atmosphere well and performance was flawless. It feels like a relaxing bird word journey. After all, bird is the word. 🐦 My only real complaint is the shuffle key being bound to **ALT**. I'd much rather see that on **SPACE**, but that's me constantly wishing more games would stick to simpler, more universal controls. It's a tiny gripe in an otherwise polished experience. If you're into Scrabble, Words With Friends, Words on Stream, or just enjoy word games in general, I think this is an easy recommendation. At $9.99, I think it's a great value. No DLC, plenty of replayability and it's actually a pretty good workout for your brain. If you're not sure the deck building …

I've certainly gotten my money's' worth so I can recommend it. But as a long time, reasonably good Scrabble player, I found that Birdigo was a bit frustrating.. I had to change my Scrabble tactics, and to be honest, the game wasn't better for it. In Scrabble, it isn't just the length of the word that contributes to your score, it is mostlly the "difficulty" of your work. But in Birdigo, I wasn't making any progress making words using, for example, J or Q - you can do it but for me it never worked. The bonus for using letters that score higher in Scrabble just isn't worth it in Birdigo. So I finally figured out the best strategy was to get a lot of wildcards and make 7+ letter words, even though the words were always very simple (using all letters that would be worth 1 point in Scrabble). Still worth a purchase. Update - stuck on the final, very tough level and the flaws in this game are becoming obvious. So many feather abilities are obviously useless. This isn't a game about discovering interesting synergies it is a game of hoping you get the obviously most useful feathers. Also, because you don't specify what letter a wildcard stands for some feathers don't work as they should.

utterly charming, and the sound design/music is incredibly satisfying. for fans of balatro and word games.

I have been looking for a nice, chill puzzle-adjacent game to wind down with in the evenings. I have absolutely found it! I love the sound design and the amount of words accepted is amazing. Hope they add extra migration paths in an update or as DLC!!
