There is currently not enough here to warrant this being a 'fun' experience. The UI doesn't have basic qualities (like labels), the bugs include not being able to open the rewards from the quests (rebooting the game seemed to be the only way to reset this) and therefore being logged out of the 'automation' elements of the game, and the 'gameplay' loop is artificially limited by a cooldown each time you type a word. For those who were hoping for a game that'd let you throw a bunch of words out in the vein of an Infinite Craft or a multitude of other typing games, you'll instead find yourself typing "cat" and then having to wait five seconds before you can type "cats".

The Trench is a short World War I horror game that I found surprisingly atmospheric for such a small experience. I play as a soldier who returns to the trench where he was stationed after the war, only to find himself facing the memories and events that happened there. The basic idea is less about fighting a war and more about exploring the remains of one and trying to understand what happened. I liked that approach because it gives the setting a much more personal and unsettling feeling. Most of the gameplay revolves around exploration. I move through the trench, look around for things that seem out of place, move boxes and read notes that gradually reveal more of the story. There is no complicated combat system or huge collection of weapons to worry about, so I can concentrate on the environment and the mystery. I actually think that works well here because the quiet moments give me time to take in the surroundings before something disturbing happens. The notes are particularly important because they give me pieces of information about the events that took place in the trench.
