Not sure about this one, it's like "Warfare Studios" thought we wanted this, but everyone was vying for Ashes of Immortality III. "Black Home" doesn't exude much hospitality and drags on for way too long before you can decrypt whatever lies inside this monastery. It's like an annoyingly murky version of "Hearts of Chaos".3 found this helpful
I loved almost everything about this game. Ancient Ones with so little concern for humanity that we're usually beneath their notice? Rad. Badass female protagonist who uses science to slay? Hell yeah. Abandoned monastery overrun with zombies? My dude. The one thing I didn't love? The SIZE. I saw another review that mentioned the huge size of the maps, and it's so true. Easily 75% of my time in this game was spent running around backtracking and getting lost. I feel like a lot of the maps could be half the size and still as challenging without being as exhausting. I dunno how you could work a fast travel into the story without impacting the overall feel, but man, it would've been super cool to just warp between different areas.1 found this helpful
Ok RPGMaker game, solid story, easy combat, very good guide available for the achievements.1 found this helpful
played though the game, made it to a point that i was running around the map with no enemies, nothing to do and no clue to the direction i was to go, so i got annoyed and quit.
Black Home was one of the most amazing games i've played from RPG Maker, the Castle Vibe is amazing and the locked doors and fixed paths you've got to unlock as you go makes what should be a very small space feel larger than it actually is! The mechanics are also very good and the difficult spikes whilst at first seem unfair encourage you to find other ways around, you can't just charge in at every enemy because healing items are a scarce resource almost turning this into a Survival Horror RPG.
