About Bloodless

Namazu's Wrath, the new Rogue-like mode

Join Tomoe as she's placed on a mysterious island where the gods Namazu and Baku guide her. Fight through corruption and clear challenges to cleanse the island and chase after your former self, The Slasher. Bloodless is a retro-stylish, action-adventure featuring counter-based, non-lethal combat staged in the atmospheric lands of Bakugawa. Help ronin Tomoe to confront the ghosts of her past and to end the reign of violence of Shogun Akechi, her former master.

Unique Non-Lethal Combat: Tomoe has sworn not to take another life, and must instead just disarm her enemies. Use a combination of counters and disarming ki-attacks to defeat the shogun’s army.

Depth and Customization: Find your own fighting style by making use of special ki techniques that allow for unique combos, as well as enhancements from crests and herb infusions you find across the land of Bakugawa.

Striking Environments: Explore the sacred nature and mistreated districts of Bakugawa, where its society lives under a violent and corrupt military regime, isolated from the world and shattered by the terrors of its past wars.

Emotional storytelling: Even as a coward and deserter through the eyes of her own people, ronin Tomoe returns to her former land after witnessing all the blood that a blade can shed, hoping to spark the hope and courage Bakugawa needs to fight back against its violent political methods.

Extra Challenges: Push your skills to the limit by collecting Warrior Idols scattered throughout Bakugawa and unlocking the Arenas. Whether you seek to refine your combat prowess or prove yourself as the ultimate Bloodless warrior, the Arenas offer a relentless challenge for those brave enough to take them on.

really cool premise but god awful execution. the combat gives you so many mechanics that you can never use because of how enemies attack - you can dash into enemy attacks to disarm and defeat them? - 90% of enemy attacks are red unparryable attacks - you can time a chi punch to interrupt enemy red attacks and stun them? - the enemy jumps back the entire length of the arena so you never get to do it - also, sometimes the timing is so tight that you will only be able to do it if you had a fruit fly's reaction time i am a massive fan of difficulty but this just seems like the game is flooded with artificial difficulty i had really hoped that this game was going to give me sekiro/lies of P vibes, but unfortunately, it falls short

The use of color is quite striking in this game. It's also got a neat gameplay hook, where you need to end fights peacefully by disarming opponents.

I wish I could reccommend this game, but it had huge performance issues both on my 4070 and Steam Deck. The fights would lag and I'm constantly getting seconds long stutters even when exploring. Maybe it's just a problem on my side - like new Nvidia drivers effing up a game that used to work well. But it is just unplayable, which is a shame, since I really like the artstyle and storytelling I've seen so far. So I'm refunding it for now, putting it on my wish list again and hopefully check back in a year or so.

I don't mind a challenge, but this is just irritating. The main gripe I have is that most any enemy that takes more than one hit requires completely perfect execution. Parry their first two hits and then take damage from the third, and they're back to the start. Use ki attacks and it's the same situation, as any hit they land on you will completely refresh their stability, so you may as well not bother.

The premise absolutely carries it.
