"Bone Voyage" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from Breda University of Applied Science. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. This is an admittedly charming, comical third person adventure game where you control a skeleton on the way to the afterlife (which apparently is a trip taken on a large boat). You solve various adventure game problems using unique skeleton related abilities. Student projects generally fall into one of two buckets... the first type being just garbage tech demos, and the s…

Bone Voyage is a charming puzzle adventure where you play as a skeleton who can remove and rearrange his own bones. Finally. A game that asks the important questions. Can't reach something? Remove arm. Need to fit somewhere? Leave some bones behind. Problem requires entire skeleton? Unfortunate. I have misplaced part of myself. At some point I stopped solving puzzles like a normal person and started treating my own body like an IKEA furniture set. Where does this leg go? Probably important. We'll come back for it. 10/10. No skin. No organs. No problems. Bone appétit.

I would recommend this if it wasn't for the issue i encountered. *edit to add to this review after another try can be found at the bottom* the game is pretty good but it's buggy, especially if you like to explore. The first few glitches were okay and easy to fix but eventually i got trapped and when i logged out, to see if it would fix it, and logged back in i was falling through the map and had to restart entirely. the game has great potential but i really think there should be save files with a few auto save slots just in case we get trapped in a game breaking bug. **EDIT** I returned to the game to give it another shot because this game was quite interesting, bugs aside. I ran into a spot where i got stuck after a dialogue interaction and had to restart but unfortunately it led to another impossible playthrough. After I restarted the game, for yet another time, I played until i logged off with no issues due to avoiding known problems. When i started the game the next day there were no NPCs on the ship whatsoever, making it impossible to progress. Also, the report a problem button leads to a "site cant be reached page" I'm sorry that i have to delete the game without completi…
