Circle Tank

Circle Tank is a lazy minimalist 2D retro monochrome pixel "arcade" game made with the craptastic GameMaker Studio video game construction kit. It's an ultra simple one-button arcade shooter where the game being made so badly is apparently the chief selling point. You have an ugly 2D retro pixel monochrome tank and one button, that both shoots and turns your tank (in one direction). You can't stop the tank (a bit like a Snake ripoff but more shallow) so you need to turn and avoid walls as well as shoot all the things, etc. A choice was made to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Resolution is locked and can't be changed, and there's no visual or graphics tweaks, so there's no way to improve the very lazy, mediocre visuals. The developers were so lazy they didn't bother making the game display properly in widescreen, it displays just in a 1:1 square pillarbox. Ugh. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for many different…

Sometimes, constraints lead to creative game design. Circle tank does not exemplify this.

Игра "Circle Tank" приятно удивила своей простой, но захватывающей концепцией. Управление танком, вращающимся по кругу, оказалось интуитивно понятным, а динамичные сражения с волнами врагов затягивают надолго. Визуальный стиль минималистичен, но при этом выглядит вполне симпатично и не отвлекает от геймплея. Разнообразие улучшений для танка и его оружия позволяет экспериментировать со сборками и находить наиболее эффективные стратегии. Понравилось, что каждый новый уровень представляет собой новый вызов, требующий адаптации и продуманных действий. Однако, игре не хватает разнообразия в типах врагов. В какой-то момент они начинают повторяться, что немного снижает интерес. Также, было бы здорово увидеть больше арен для сражений и, возможно, кооперативный режим для игры с друзьями. В целом, "Circle Tank" – это отличная казуальная игра, которая идеально подходит для коротких игровых сессий. Рекомендую всем, кто ищет простой, но увлекательный шутер с видом сверху.
