✦ AI summary

Mortal Shell II is a solid souls-like with engaging boss fights and generally good performance that players appreciate, but it's hampered by significant technical issues including animation bugs, physics glitches, and inconsistent enemy behavior that can feel unfair. The level design has interesting ideas but suffers from poor implementation with excessive pit falls and repetitive dungeon layouts, while weapon progression feels front-loaded.

Great in terms of aesthetics and mechanics against fodder. The bosses are absolutely atrocious. The spectacle is absolutely amazing, and so I would recommend to get this game on a discount (like $25). But it's not worth it at full price. Mechanically, it's absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

The most golden ♥♥♥♥ "soulslike" joke of a game, if you ever played true souls games, this is not it. Mediocre at best combat hidden behind good character design and environment. Bosses levitate towards you while attacking, mobs have random stagger moments so you cant trust them and have 8 hit light combos that gotta end so you cant stop them. Mapping mechanics are non-existent for the zones that truly matter(beacons), if you ever have to travel back to one with 5 or more spawns, good luck finding the one u stopped at last. Builds are just spam one elem or other, most stones are useless so youre stuck either playing the OP or just having a miserable experience. Decent start, HORRIBLE end, I'm disgusted by the last part of the game, absolute waste of anyone's time.

This crappy game does the thing where combat exclusively rewards perfect parries. So combat is a game of attack peekaboo. Except with bosses you have to build up a parried attack gauge to get the actual return attack and do real damage. Except the devs missed the part where DS bosses have tells and consistent animations. So boss fights are a game of "Oooh oooh, am I gonna attack now, wait for it... psych! What about... NOW" and you have to play along because just attacking outright or blocking 1 frame too soon opens you to quick death.

Great Game And Dark Atmosphere. Nice Variety and skills of Shells. Sester Genessa is OP.

An incredible Souls-like that's held back by some seriously frustrating technical issues. **Recommended — but I'd strongly suggest waiting another few weeks to a month for additional patches before jumping in.** Let me start by saying that I genuinely love this game. There's an incredible experience here, and despite some serious frustrations, I keep looking forward to firing it back up. **First and foremost, the art direction is phenomenal.** I've always believed that art direction matters more than graphical fidelity, but Mortal Shell II manages to excel at both. The environments are breathtaking, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the character and weapon designs are exceptional. Every time I launch the game, I'm reminded of just how gorgeous it is. It's easily one of the most visually impressive games I've played in recent memory. The combat is also a refreshing departure from traditional Souls-likes. Movement is significantly faster, encounters are more aggressive, and the various defensive and offensive mechanics create a combat system with a surprising amount of depth. There's a substantial learning curve, but mastering the interactions between Guard, Break, Ripostes, Shel…
