✦ AI summary

Color Souls is a colorful platformer with adorable character designs, solid controls, and an engaging painting mechanic that players appreciate, though some find the repetitive gameplay loop grows thin after the 25 levels. Common complaints center on the lengthy death animations that disrupt flow, control mechanics that feel imprecise in critical moments, occasional performance issues, and a lack of variety or narrative depth that leaves the experience feeling somewhat short and shallow.

Color Souls is a platformer, where you playing as a colorful goo, which can sprinkle color inks anywhere when it's jump. Your objective is to reach the portal at the end of the levels and also defeat enemies and bosses. The game's characters looks adorable and sometimes quite scary. They really put effort into them. The painting mechanic is useful and good looking in general. You can play the game easily, you only need the direction keys for moving and space for jumping. The music is all right, but I expected maybe more tracks to listen to. However, for me the game felt a bit short and after 25 levels, I started to lose interest, because you won't do anything else, then what I described previously. I think the devs could have expanded this idea more, also they could have add some lore to it maybe. The controls are slidey, the character won't stop when you release the movement key, and also the falling speed is quite fast in general, meaning platforming is challenging because of these. Also, if you have lot of ink particles on the screen, the game doesn't take it lightly, meaning it will lag a bit. To be honest, as a small indie game, with a cheap price tag, it's perfectly fine a…

If you enjoy this game but the sheer difficulty is a bit much for you, Neon Souls by the same dev is a perfect fit. This is great too tho, 6/10

- The death animation is too long This is a big issue for me. It's not that the difficulty is too high, it seemed easy/normal, but in a game where you need to make quick movements and can easily make a mistake, I can see that 4 second animation getting old very quickly as the difficulty ramps up, so I quit while I was ahead. I would rather have no animation at all. - The controls aren't tight They weren't satisfying enough to keep me hooked. I didn't feel like mastering them. If you're touching a wall when you jump, the game will push you outward rather than allowing you to jump upward like normal. Also, there is no restart button. So in the levels with disappearing platforms, you need to deliberately die to have another attempt. - The game lags often It sometimes lagged when there was a big splash. Sometimes a double jump would trigger it or simply nothing at all. It's smooth overall, but this needs to be mentioned. - You die when you touch the edges of the screen. There was a level where I went left from the starting point and was immediately killed because there was no wall. I also used a spring to jump higher and died while touching the ceiling. Keep bottomless pits, but wal…
