CosmoOdyssey:Trip to Mars

I'm guessing this is an inside joke I am too American to understand. CosmoOdyssey: Trip to Mars is a 30 minute first person adventure game where you complete chores aboard a spaceship and then do some adventuring on Mars. Some of the weirdness is charming: the spaceship being filled with slavcore picnic tables, folding tables, and decorative rugs is... weird. TBH, it's just kind of boring. You find a TV remote, collect items to cook breakfast, read journals, etc etc. And then its over. The Ukranian to English translation is bad. The models are mostly bad. The lighting is so bad you can't see most of the items you pick up in the first half. $4 for this would be a travesty. Honestly, even for $0.79 on sale I'm not fully convinced I got my money's worth.

I really enjoyed this little gem. Once I sorted out the language issue (sadly I only speak English), I was off and running. The trip to Mars was eventful, breakfest was delicious, and there was plenty to do once I arrived. 90 minutes well spent. The Ukrainian voiceover was soothing, the music not so much. I loved the way the ship was decorated, although the lighting was a little dark in places. I happily recommend this game, especially if you can get it on sale.

I'm done giving this game a chance. Actually, I don't know if it is good or not. But the QOL is so bad, it's not worth playing. First, the UI is in Ukrainian by default. So thanks for the chance to finally use my Duolingo skills. Managed to change the language to English, but still, some words are not translated, or are translated poorly. When I did the change and restarted the game, the mouse-sensitivity was somehow set to 0. So I couldn't look around. Thought the game was broken for about 5 minutes of trial and error. There are subtitles to the Ukrainian audio, but there is no way of repeating audio. Sometimes, the subtitles disappear quite fast and you have no way of seeing them again. There is no inventory or proper gui, as far as I could tell. The font used for the journal entries might look good, but is not readable that well. Reading it gets exhausting. The cherry on top is that you can't even change the sound volume. The gameplay was quite underwhelming (at least for the short time I played). You need to pick something up, then pick that thing up. That's it. I hate to write a negative review for a game even though I didn't really play it, but it's reasonable in this…
