Cralon

this game is not good. but it does have its´ very own, very rough charme. it feels like "Underworld Ascendant" and, of course, Gothic had an ugly child. Then the devs decided to add themselves and a LOT of "Ruhrgebiet" Stuff to the mix, no matter how fitting or unfitting that might be. I mean, it´s obviously a medieval world, but they have yellow plastic helmets, battery driven flashlights, pictures of modern mine hoisting systems, even fotographs of themselves scattered throughout the game. enemies sometimes just "glide" backwards, there are no real attack or retreat animations. it´s been a while since I experienced such a bad combat system.. inventory management is from 2001 and the dialogues are not really funny. but in the end, the pricing does reflect this, i think. for (atm) 15€, it´s okay to have a few hours (~10) of mine-crawling fun. Addendum: OK, now i´ve reached the end credits, and I do have to add something to my review. 1. the "unfitting objects" are being explained in the end. you may like the explanation (or, the story, that is), i do not like it very much, because it was so forseeable from the first 1/3 of the game, but also "the easy way out" of these inconsi…

I love the atmo

This was my second playthrough of Cralon since I played the console version first. I bought it again because I wanted to support the developers. I was really looking forward to this as I loved Björn and Jenny’s work on their previous games. Even though this is very different to the big RPGs that they worked on before, it still has some of the great qualities that those games had. For example, the atmosphere is amazing and is brought to life by the dark visual style and interesting story. Another example is that the characters are interesting, and I really enjoyed talking to them. I had a lot of fun wandering around all the floors looking for things and completing the quests. The ending was another thing I loved and the hints throughout the game of what was actually going on added a lot to that. I’m really looking forward to seeing what Pithead Studio does next.

Had a fun and challenging time with the game. I liked the setting of the game and the VA of the characters was good. Story wise you will learn more the further you get. In the beginning it can be a bit confusing but it makes all sense later on. It had a few quirks but nothing that ruined the flow of the game or the gameplay for me. Nice to see them do something else even if the combat difficulty can be had from the Gothic series thou I guess it depends on the difficulty you pick. ( I picked the o( ° ° )! difficulty which can be translated to hard.) Without armor = instant death getting hit especially by magic. With armor = survive a hit but magic can still instant kill. You will find the strategy to handle the enemies. Managing your fear will help a lot in fights also. You can find weapons but they are very rare. You can craft weapons, potions and some other stuff but not armour which you have to buy. Had a good time playing through the game. Looking forward to see what the next project will be.

I definitely noticed a huge improvement since I first tried the demo. The voice narration and NPCS sound much more natural and engaging now, and the weapon handling feels smoother and less janky than it did before. There’s still some room for improvement, but I can clearly see the progress being made. The overall experience is getting better, and I’m looking forward to seeing how Cralon continues to develop.

While I haven't had time to play this for very long, the couple of hours so far have been enjoyable.
