What Steam players say

Players consistently report that Datswer is severely broken by technical issues and poor design choices that make it nearly unplayable. Common complaints include game-breaking bugs (especially after dying), clunky mobile-game-style controls that lack keyboard and controller support, inconsistent platforming mechanics that cause players to get stuck, and inconsistent English text indicating a lazy port from Android. While some appreciate the nice graphics and audio style, and the developer appears to be trying to improve the game, the fundamental bugs and control issues remain severe enough tha
Datswer plays like an amateur Prince of Persia fangame that should never have left Newgrounds. Glitches out the wazoo, a clumsy non-rebindable control scheme, and inconsistent platforming mechanics make this one to avoid. The sheer incompetence and snippets of mangled English do offer some unintentional hilarity, but even so, I cannot in good conscience recommend this game. Well okay, maybe if you run a YouTube channel and need a bad game to entertain your subscribers, but to the average consumer, stay away!30 found this helpful
Once you die once the game will not let you continue. It's fundamentally broken. They didn't even change the text: "The protagonist of this Android game..." for the Steam release.27 found this helpful
While the developer seems to be trying really hard to make the game better, as of update 2.5.1, the game still has terrible controls (like a phone game - click once to move, twice to run, click on the character and select again to crouch, jump forward or jump). Cons: - I could only play the game by moving the executable to the game's main folder. Otherwise, Steam would not even see the .exe file. - Terrible controls with the mouse (a platformer without controller or keyboard support is a game-breaker for me) - a horrible bug after dying that made my character get stuck above the checkpoint (I have uploaded a picture to Steam) - bad English (the Continue option means Reload Checkpoint, which does not make sense, just to give an example) Pros - nice graphics style - nice audio effects I really want to play this game, and hope I can change my review in the future.7 found this helpful
This game is similar to Another World, a platformer exploration game with sudden deaths. The main problem with this game is the buggy platforming. Sometimes you can jump into an object and get stuck. If you cancel a climb animation while hanging on an edge, you will get stuck. These will force you to load the last save point.6 found this helpful
The trailer makes it look fun, but its too glitchy to play. I hope the bugs can get worked out and, if possible, controller support be added.1 found this helpful
