About Daymare Town
the World of Daymare
Daymare Town is a hand-drawn puzzle adventure game. You find yourself in a heart of a strange city populated by peculiar Metamorph creatures. This town is full of nooks and crannies, puzzles, secrets and items to collect to help you along the way. Can you escape the nightmare of a day?Story
You are not alone here. You will meet peculiar daymare inhabitants. Some of them will help you, some need your help. Almost everyone has a story. You can choose to learn those stories if you just listen or look carefully at the environmental storytelling.Puzzles
You will have to dive deep into the nooks and crannies of this town in order to solve all its mysteries and puzzles, of which are plenty. The better part of them will have you fighting the entropy of a town, bringing back signal to noise. There are also creatures here that need your help, look at them closely to learn who they are and what they need from you. You will have an inventory of items to use while solving puzzles.Graphics
Entire game is hand-drawn. There's nothing auto-generated nor procedural. There's no AI used in any capacity. Each location was thoughtfully designed. Its stylized and sketchy character emphasizes the eerie atmosphere of an unshaped nightmare you found yourself in.Music
Piano music for this game was created by contemporary composer Alex Voytenko. His style of music perfectly emphasizes the atmosphere of unspoken madness permeating this town. What Steam players say

The art and atmosphere carry the game, compensating for its otherwise frustrating design.3 found this helpful
I've played this game in its earlier iteration as a Flash game. I have long considered this artist one of the best game makers in the point-and-click style of adventure game. The art is haunting and expertly done, the gameplay is a bit of a challenge (without being impossible). You will need to look very carefully for clues and Easter-eggs. I love being able to explore and solve puzzles - nothing feels better than solving a mystery and figuring out a puzzle.2 found this helpful
While I would like to recommend this game, in all honesty I can't bring myself to do it. After playing Submachine Legacy, and paying more for Daymare town than that, it's a big let down. While the art work and atmosphere are there as in all Matuez previous offerings, this is more of an over engineered scavenger hunt. I think Submachine is probably the best game I have ever played, this simply doesn't even hold a candle to it. I guess I was spoiled by playing Submachine first, because all of the subsequent games of his I have played have been tepid at best in comparison. If you haven't played Submachine yet - DO IT!!. This is simply not a game that even approached his previous efforts and feels like he is playing off of his prior success(es).1 found this helpful
I like this game a lot. The puzzle elements obviously, but also the worldbuilding, and the progression of the story as you solve.
Amazing point and click puzzle game. If you liked Submachine this is the same type of thing but better imo.
Very striking. The tone-setting is amazing. That being said, it was quite annoying when the reason I was stuck was because I didn't realize I could go another direction from a certain screen. Also, the achievements are just plain dumb. Do you really expect me to go clicking around the entire map to find the things *you* decided would be breakable with a hammer?
