About Bad Dream: Fever

✦ AI summary

Navigate a haunting ink-corrupted world filled with existential manifestations while solving abstract riddles and uncovering a deeply personal story about fever, infection, and human fragility. This atmospheric puzzle-adventure stands out for its surreal fever-dream aesthetic and emotionally resonant narrative that explores how illness warps perception and relationships.

The world is covered in strange ink, an unknown plague has gathered its cruel harvest. The city seems to be completely empty and dead, but in its every corner there are manifestations of fear, sorrow, frustration, misunderstanding, loneliness, and suffering. The situation looks hopelessly, but not everything is lost yet...

Enter the feverish dream and experience its abstract world. Recognize the degradation of your environment and adapt to it. Act with caution. There is a malicious virus waiting for you at each step. Avoid the ink and everything should be alright.

Keep an open mind and be prepared for anything. Expect an enemy in the person who you would least expect it. If you feel betrayed, remember that a fever can change a strong, healthy person into a complete wreck. An infected mind loses common sense.

Attempt to save at least one person. Remember, sometimes 100% effort is still not enough. Don't let the fever infect your mind. Don't let the ink to change you...

Game features:

- The climate of a world resembling sleep during a fever.

- Creative riddles requiring an unconventional approach.

- Refined locations, full of intense, suggestive climate.

- A sincere and complex story told from the depth of the author's heart.

It's okay. Maybe I'm too late to the party and have played too many meta games? Maybe the writing is just kind of bad? Hard to say which is more true, probably a bit of both. Either way, it shares the same frustrations I had with Coma - the puzzles are cumbersome to get through and just not very fun - but without the branching options and more engaging story. That being said, I enjoy the art style and atmosphere very much, and I really liked the interesting graphical effects related to the ink and the red/green/blue/grey ones towards the end. If you really loved Coma or the other games you might like it.

It's a very short game and unlike Coma, doesn't have multiple endings. But because this a free game, I can forgive the shortness. It's the same creepy atmosphere and forth-wall-breakiness of the previous titles with a message on how stressful game development really is when you're a perfectionist.

Very interesting game with loads of creative puzzle and the 4th-wall-breaking story.

I guess we could count that nice game here as a "prequel" for the game "Bad Dream: Coma". It was really a nice click and point game adventure, but at chapter 4 it's riddles became strange (which suits though to the story's twist). That was the reason why I had to use in the end a walkthrough for it a lot, but I love the artwork here and even the ending of this game. So yes, I can recommend it and what could you honestly do wrong with a free game purchase? There are no achievements available in this game, though.
