[h1][i]"How did you know my thoughts?!"[/i][/h1] A bizarre adventure game that could have been popular in the mid-2000s. Distinct art style compensates for crude gameplay. [h3][i]***[/i][/h3] I received M City as part of the Steam Curator program, and it is actually the first game from around a dozen that I decided to accept and review. A peculiar cartoon style and a sympathetic but schizophrenic protagonist with several personalities (one of them is a "dog") somehow drew me in. Besides, it must be good if it clicks on three different mediums (visual, audial, and conceptual) from the very beginning, right? Having played it to the end, I enjoyed the game for what it is — a strange amalgamation of fairy tale, detective mystery, horror, and nostalgia that is not without its flaws. A serious drawback is the underdeveloped gameplay. The player must hit the spacebar continuously and click on the backpack to interact with possessions despite having enough free space on the screen for the whole inventory. "Action sequences" are fun but tedious because they require memorizing the button chain and repeating the sequence until you get all the actions correctly. What is the correct action …

Weird adventure on an engine that doesn’t deliver a fluid gameplay. The story follows Manny, a guy with who’s stuck with several other personalities in his head. There’s Dog that only barks at stuff, Coward who sees danger in everything, and Sergeant who’s always ready for action. You do not get to choose your personality; they merely comment on how you interact with the world. Although the game works fine, the engine is peculiar and out of date for today's standards. It operates on Flash, which will be familiar to anyone who has played these games in the past. There are animations, however they appear as frames that you must cycle through by hitting "space". It is the most commonly used button because you must push it for each line of text or remark, even if you are only inspecting something. The game takes up around two-thirds of the screen. The remainder is essentially unused because it only displays the hotspot name and conversation topics. Only the left mouse button is used, making things a little easier. However, item handling is a pain. Instead of having an inventory bar displayed at all times, you must click on Manny every time you wish to retrieve an item from the inv…

This game was a blast! I really enjoy small indie point and click games. I hope more episodes come out because I was super invested in the story! 100% recommend playing. <3
