✦ AI summary

Players are divided on this twin-stick shooter with loot mechanics. Supporters praise its addictive gameplay loop, smooth controls, weapon variety, and deep customization options that keep runs feeling fresh, while also celebrating the developers' recent announcement of returning to development. Critics argue the core gameplay is repetitive and shallow, with weapons feeling functionally identical despite different types, limited player agency beyond shooting and dodging, and no class system to add strategic depth—making it feel like a numbers-increasing grind despite its polished presentation.

The game looks fancy, but the gameplay is very boring. I hope there were more actions that the player could take aside from shooting and dodging. There is no class or anything. While there are multiple weapon types, most of them are not different from each other. Handguns, SMGs, Assault Rifles and mini guns function exactly the same. The only difference being which passive perk is applied. While the player can carry three guns, there is no point switching between them when guns take 1 second to reload. I may recommend this if the price is halved, and if you are happy with just stat numbers increasing even with repetitive gameplay.

Game was abandoned in 2020 - the devs posted today 4 years later announcing they are coming back to develop it. This may be the best game news I've had this year; the game is amazing and well made, now that it will be finished I am most excited to see what the studio can do.

A shooter with loot mechanics and many options for customizing equipment in the 2D view, for people who like to be in the loot spiral, a perfect game. It's definitely a shame that this is no longer available as it was something new and therefore something special, and it's not very unfinished either. I will definitely play it again at some point from scratch.

Deadtime Defenders has some seriously fun gameplay mechanics if you're into twin-stick shooters with loot and build variety. The controls are smooth and responsive, and each weapon type feels unique and impactful. What really hooked me is the amount of customization—you can tweak your build in so many ways with upgrades, perks, and loot drops that no two runs feel the same. There’s a good balance between chaotic action and meaningful choices. Whether you're stacking damage for massive hits, optimizing your cooldowns, or just blasting through hordes with a shotgun, it always feels rewarding. Runs are quick but satisfying, and there’s enough progression to keep you coming back.

Just a solid, addictive, loot grinder with enough variety to keep you hooked. Levelling curve is right on the edge of "grind in the background" and thats exactly what I like.

I'm obsessed. I can't wait for story mode.
