About Death of a Wish

Death of a Wish is a vicious action-RPG where style is salvation.

Play as Christian as he unites with new comrades to challenge the order that raised him. By taking down the four Sanctum Faiths: Father, Sister, Cardinal, and Priest, they will upend the order of the world.

Fight your way through a nightmare filled with horrifying monsters and terrifying people. Master brutal attacks and flashy combos as you struggle against the Corruption consuming you with style and grace. Shine your light in this surreal sea of darkness.

ENGAGE IN VICIOUSLY GRACEFUL COMBAT

Unleash Christian’s cursed powers in a demanding and rewarding combat system. Be careful not to succumb to the ever-encroaching Corruption; achieve high ranks in combat and perform graceful combos to hold the Corruption at bay.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR MARKED POWERS

Rend your foes asunder with magical combos called Arias. Enhance your abilities with powerful Virtues that alter your approach to battle and the rhythm of combat. With a limitless array of ways to fight stylishly, build your character with passion to destroy your foes.

DESCEND INTO THE NIGHTMARE

In the dreamworld of Paradiso, repressed memories and unspeakable feelings come to life as the nightmarish city of Neo-Sanctum. Delve into the secret underworld of the esoteric and abandoned to meet new comrades who will aid you on your journey.

SURREAL AND SPECTACULAR

Christian’s world is rendered with a surreal aesthetic like no other. Harsh, pulsating scratches upon a sea of darkness render a thick atmosphere brooding with emotion. Battles come to life in an animated spectacle of light and motion that remains easy to parse in play.

For audio, Nicolo Telesca’s chilling score mixes electronic sounds with live instrumentation and complements the visuals by eliciting feelings of tense anxiety and electrifying catharsis.

✦ AI summary

Players praise the game's unique art style, strong story with LGBTQ+ themes, satisfying combat that feels like anime action, and impressive soundtrack, with many highlighting it as a worthy successor to the original Lucah. The main complaints center on visual chaos that makes it hard to see what's happening in combat, unfair difficulty spikes where enemies spawn or attack before the player can react, occasional unclear level design, and some feeling the removal of the stamina system made combat less strategic than the prequel. Despite these issues, most players find the game engaging enough to

This game is an LGBTQ+ masterpiece with an amazing soundtrack and heavy, heartfelt story. The combat is incredibly satisfying and at moments, it feels like you're living through impact frames in an anime. It gets a 9/10 with a few issues: Later on, the game is way too visually chaotic to tell what's going on and the level design presents you with scenarios where you walk into a room and are getting obliterated before you have the time to press a single button. If you don't walk into a room already dashing, or an enemy just happens to spawn on top of you already attacking, there's nothing you can do about it. The only reason this didn't lower the score further than a point, is because the game very clearly wants and expects you to experience multiple endings. I played on hard my first playthrough, but the game gives you an ample number of modifiers to make the game less challenging and punishing. The absurd difficulty and hopelessness of combat at times plays into the overall story in a way that feels, at least mostly, intentional. This game is, if nothing else, an incredibly unique hidden gem of an experience.

I loved Lucah: Born of a Dream, and this is a more than worthy successor! I look forward to anything else this team makes in the future :D

This game is Fun. I definitely liked born of a dream more gameplaywise. I think removing the stamina bar just made less strategical, and perhaps thats the point but i defnintely had more fun with the prequel. But its still a Lucah Born of Dream sequeal so the Vibes and the Plot are all on point still. I looovveeed more fleshed out characters in this and the more clear story. Overall its messy and imperfect, but thats what this series is avout.

Interesting game. Really unique art style, but can be hard to see whats goin on sometimes. Combat was pretty neat, but difficulty can fluctuate. Lots of build diversity. Story/writing is "edgy" but still pretty good. Few times it is real tough to figure out where you're supposed to go. Still, I don't finish a whole ton and kept going on this one. It's solid.
