This game really nails that Williams arcade feeling (primarily the game it's cloning: Sinistar) i.e. A barrage of lights and wailing bleepy-zappy-bloopy noises that sketch out inscrutable gameplay that eventually reveals itself to be a challenging coin-chomper. Even on easy I was having great difficulty defeating the stupid flying face. The controls are a bit odd, especially the UI ones.

Another game my brother mainly played, this one is very much like an Asteroids style game. I'm not recommending it because my brother says the boss is next to impossible if you don't kill it instantly. To me, that is not a good mark.

Like Sinistar from the arcade. Fast, fun, and frustrating. Randomly found, played about one minute, then bought the whole Hijong Park collection, and worth every penny. Oh, and works out of the box on my Steam Deck.

Thank YOUUU Hijong Park and PsychoFlux for making these happen!! This entire arcade pack should be in the library of everyone that chases that 80's OG arcade rush -- especially that super-charged Williams feel. I found these simply enough searching for Choplifter (check out Golden Hornet) and the arcade pack came with this glorious Sinistar remake. Taking me some time getting used to the overheating / thruster dynamic, but WOW this captures everything I love about the original. <3

Devileader, developed by Hijong Park and published by PsychoFlux Entertainment, is a compact arcade-style shooter that clearly draws inspiration from classic space shooters while introducing a few distinctive ideas of its own. It embraces a stripped-down design philosophy, focusing on fast reflexes, spatial awareness, and survival rather than complex systems or narrative depth. From the outset, it positions itself as a score-driven experience where every second matters, and success is determined by how well players can adapt to an increasingly chaotic battlefield. The core gameplay loop is built around navigating an open arena filled with enemies, hazards, and collectible resources. Players pilot a small spacecraft, weaving through threats while collecting crystals that serve as both a scoring mechanic and a key resource. These crystals are used to construct powerful Devibombs, which are essential for confronting the game’s central threat—the Devileader itself. This creates a constant tension between offense and survival. Collect too slowly, and the enemy gains ground; take too many risks, and survival becomes uncertain. The added twist that enemies also gather these resources to …
