This game is Granny if it were cranked up to 11. I love this game. It's challenging but not outright ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, The puzzles are pretty simple to solve and understand, The randomness of the item placements make every playthrough feel unique, and Doctor Viscera himself along with the nurse and the wheelchair guy make for a really fun challenge. I'm definitely 100%ing this game and want to replay it in October when the halloween season starts. Sad that this game gets very little attention on youtube, i feel like a lot of people would love this game if it just got a bit more traction than it already has. Especially speedrunners.

Not gonna lie, I had a rough start with the demo with framerate and audio lagging, but after buying it and getting set to the right specs (changing the settings to low and windowed because my PC was a fickle ♥♥♥♥♥) I fell hard for this sick and sweet little game. I'm already pretty familiar with stealth horror games, so it wasn't until nightmare that I was really feeling the grind, but I could see how those who are fueled by adrenaline might struggle with the first few times they played. I thought I wasn't going to be a fan of the rng for most of the escape items, but in the end I actually found it refreshing, especially when going back to play all the various difficulties. Sometimes (When I had the Nurse deactivated) I wouldn't be able to find all three pieces of the gun during half of the matches, which made it a bit tedious when trying to get that specific achievement, but other than that I have nothing but praise for Doctor Viscera. Begging on my knees praying that we might get some kinda cheesy sequel with more puzzles, locations, methods of escape, threats, etc.

Disclaimer: The publisher gave me a free copy to do a live review on Twitch. It did not impact my score/opinions at all. It's a 6.5/10 (Decently good with room for improvement). Here's why: Graphics: It's very visually appealing. There's a grainy filter which gives it a really old PSX feel which you can turn off to give it more of a PS2 feel which I appreciated. For atmosphere, the filter should stay on (it is by default) but for visibility / information, it's probably best left off. Depending on what kind of horror experience you want, you may lean towards one or the other. The color palette is a really gorgeous saturated sickly green paired with blood red. As said before, it's a really nice game to look at, whoever handled the lighting did a great job. The Doctor design is great and the Nurse is eh (love that you can toggle her being in the game). Gameplay: If you've played Granny or Monstrum you know how this goes. Load in, find items, build your escape, avoid being caught in the process. Had such a great time with this game, definitely got my money's worth. It's technically quite a small and tight game, but very smartly designed to encourage replaying as you figure out how everything in map connects and how all the puzzles are to be solved. Plus it keeps you on edge very effectively the whole time with the doctor/nurse hunting you. While sometimes the AI bugs out a bit, I also found it extremely impressive how they navigate and interact with the environment. In general the game has a bit of jank here and there which for the most part adds to the charm and retro style. Though every now and then there are more distracting visual glitches which cause the screen to flicker and distort, taking you out of the experience. Regardless, I definitely recommend this if you're a fan of survival horror.

Notice that I might be changing this review to positive depending on the future updates. DOCTOR VISCERA is a horror escape room game with some survival horror elements. You play as someone who is trying to escape Doctor Viscera (and the nurse), and you will have to solve several puzzles to fulfill that objective (most of them consisting on finding the right item and use it at the right place). You have 5 lifes to do so (represented as days, losing one everytime they capture you), losing all your progress if you lose them all, To avoid them, your best weapons are going to be stealth, hiding spots, running around corners and vents. Sound design and atmosphere are AMAZING, giving creepy vibes the entire time (perfect if you are here for the horror), while also easily helping so you can tell where the enemies are due to footsteps. Gameplay-wise is great in concept; as I mentioned, you are meant to solve several puzzles regarding item hunting, the problem being that you only have two item slots, being a huge pain the first times you are playing this game, because you just don't know where you might need to use them (it's not that bad after you have played enough, but beware that it w…
