Story:
You're a kid. Who's gray. With rabbit ears.
People have been grumbling about the goings-on below town. Seems there's some sort of magic lantern that's throwing the whole joint into chaos. Yeah, that's what I said too! Full of it, they gotta' be, right? Turns out- not so much..
So.. What's it you do again, kid? Warrior? Thief? Wizard? Cleric??! Cultist??!!
OH! A lawyer!?
Hahaha, well you sure had me fooled there for a while.. little jerk..
Here's what you're gonna' do: Head below town, JUST FOR ME, and see what the hell that Lantern's on about. They tell me it turns all kinds of colors, and each color changes the rules.
How so!? What am I, an electrician?!?
That's up to you to find out!
And so you did!
---
Equin: The Lantern is my fun roguelike with some wholly original ideas. Easy to get into, tough to master. Conquer the 50 floor dungeon and its evil inhabitants in a quest to the bottom of the joint to find the mysterious lantern itself. With features like a turn-based 1st person battle system, Auto Killing weaker enemies, an XP Hit Streak bonus, hundreds of weapons and armor to find, diabolical floor events to shake things up, a lantern who screws with the rules, and oh yeah- PERMADEATH BABY, this is the game for those who like a good challenge.
STRATEGERIZE by slamming doors in your enemy's face to lock them in a room, or lead them into a web and trap their stank @sses. Watch out for stronger champ versions though and much stronger bosses at every turn!
NOTE: This time around I got some help from the fantasic Rocco W and his sick 8-bit tunes! They were so good I decided to scrap all my own music except for the title theme.
---
CAUTION: Some game effects contain flickering images, and might cause seizures in photosensitive players.

A brief review based on the first impressions after a couple of hours in the game. A complete, detailed review will follow up in the (hopefully, not so distant) future. Equin: The Lantern is a top-down dungeon crawler, where player as a brave fellow with rabbit ears should descend into the dungeon to locate the mysterious Lantern. No one knows what it's for and what it does, but it's certainly evil, it worries the townsfolk, and therefore it should be found and dealt with asap. First thing I should mention is that the game won't use fullscreen resolution, there are only two graphics option - small window or slightly bigger window. The pixel graphics, however, looks nice in both of these. The game starts with selecting one of the four classes - Warrior, Thief, Wizard and Cleric. A pretty standard choice. Differences between them will become more and more significant on a later levels. The mysterious fifth class will be unlocked later, its identity is not revealed until later, but you'll find plenty of hints during the game. As you choose the class and gather your gear - the adventure begins. The dungeon that you've entered is a huge multi-level underground fortress. Th…18 found this helpful
Two thumbs up! Easy recommendation for fans of simple yet straight forward rogue-likes
Not my finer reviews, I apologize, I have just been so strapped for time lately but I really wanted to throw a thumbs up for this game. Definitely deserves it and Del Duio is one of the most stand up devs I've had the pleasure of meeting.
What I like about this game!
-Simple yet challenging -Easy to play, hard to master -Lots of ways to die -One of the purest dungeon crawl roguelikes you can play -Different classes to shake the tree -Great humor and overall a "feel good" game -Unlocks and other things of that nature to keep you engaged for sometime -There's a 'graveyard' that keeps record of all your runs and stats. I'd also prefer some overall stat tracking but it's something and I appreciate it. -Pixel art is funky but I love it. -The music is very upbeat and is just my style. Really enjoy it. -Lots of enemy variety that have their own attacks -After you level up to a certain point, low level enemies instantly die -Battle sequences are very cool and remind me of old SNES RPG's for some reason -A good variety of events to be found whether it's statues you can touch, shops …1 found this helpful
an entertaining game that has more depth than it may seem at first glance. i struggle a bit with there being no map, but that's probably not going to be a problem for everyone as most of the levels aren't huge. in conclusion i like the rabbit man in this game. thanks for reading my review of video game Equin: The Lantern1 found this helpful
Fun little roguelike with charming oldschool-indie sensibility. Despite first impressions for most, this is actually a well-made, solid game that's also charming. Heartily recommended for those who enjoy roguelikes on the more casual/simple side. Nitpicks: It would have been more convenient if, after the game over screen, it went to the main menu instead of resetting the entire game. Damage is a little high on both sides compared to the amount of health you have. Defensive gear doesn't seem to help all that much against endgame enemies where they can end up 2 or 3-shotting you. RNG can be very cruel sometimes, starving you of items or having shops with $5000 items on floor one. I can't really knock the game for that though because it's a staple of the genre. There is some minor bugginess where two things can happen at once, such as when you can use a shop and encounter a chest monster on the same tile. Some item descriptions are a little obtuse, such as the Clever Disguise. Still not sure what that does after some experimenting.1 found this helpful
Love this game but 2 things I don't like are this. I can't find how to go fullscreen and I want the actual game zoomed out. I hate the big fat sprite but I can deal. overall a keeper.1 found this helpful
