What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Players praise Escape From Mandrillia's creative asymmetric VR design, polished visuals, and the genuine horror atmosphere it creates, with particular appreciation for the innovative use of combat drones and the value proposition of the experience. However, common complaints center on gameplay balance issues, particularly regarding enemy difficulty and pacing—players note that enemies move too fast, combat lacks breathing room, and the inventory system needs refinement, which can make extended play sessions feel exhausting rather than enjoyable. While the core concept resonates strongly with t
Extremely fun and very underrated. I have so much fun playing this with my friends and I really wish this game was enjoyed by many more people2 found this helpful
One of the few asymmetric VR I've seen that doesn't look like a technical demo. Extremely fun, the right amount of challenging, and a great time with friends whether you get to play in VR or on PC.2 found this helpful
Oh boy here we go. I don't often write reviews, but I feel like this one needs the feedback. All in all, I really like the idea of this game. Having little combat drones follow you around and watch your back is such a cool way to make a VR game. Add on involved portions of the VR player has to keep them stocked, and you have a recipe for such a fun coop VR game, with bonus points given for the fact your friends don't even have to own it. Then we get to the execution. Overall, the gameplay is still pretty solid, but REALLY needs some tweaks. Namely:

There needs to be breaks in the combat
The enemies need to SLOW DOWN
The inventory system in general
(more minor) A tweak to the repair system
Going one at a time, this biggest problem this game suffers from (in my opinion) is the same problem Alien: Rogue Incursion suffers from. The enemies. Do not. Stop. Spawning. This does not make the game difficult. It does not provide tension. All it is, is aggravating. Thankfully, there's multiple (simple) ways to fix this problem. The easiest and best solution in my mind is allow the big airlocks to be closed. After you get a T2 purple k…1 found this helpful
Great game, very polished, great animations and visuals, well done environment and lighting. There are co-op and PvP modes, vs AI modes, all kinds of adjustable settings and custom modes. The developer is extremely helpful and knowledgeable . The value for money is very good. Works very smoothly with Virtual Desktop app. A minor thing, I hope a VR vs VR mode could be added in the future or a later title, but probably not possible in this as it's local PCVR.1 found this helpful
Had a fun time playing with someone locally, good value for money and runs well!
Honestly, I think this game is probably amazing but it just suffers from being a local game. The only way to play with friends is with steam remote play or something like parsec. It's mostly an issue on my end as I don't have ethernet but I can't recommend this game.
